It would cost less than a fakku board

64 bucks from one of the only site I see it on, the whole put your own design thing. I thought Fakku boards were like 50 or something, but it DOES look like they're also 60. Fuck me why isn't there a weeb skate company yet?

Klein is really kind of fucking up in a sense because people like the guy you quoted don't even know about him, really, despite the fact he should be their damn hero.
I understand why he wants to stick with what's made his brand as important a brand as basically any other for decades, yet there is a huge demographic of kids who just want a henreader or touhou board and he is missing out on them big time. They will never know the history behind HookUps or be down for the classic style anime art he does. And even though its rad he sticks with his roots and the historic art, he's leaving himself wide open for someone else to come along and just fuck his shit up. Luckily fakku doesn't really seem to be trying at all, but if they were...?
Obviously HookUps is way more than just 'the anime company' and that's fucking rad - the story and history of the company and Klein himself is ridiculous. But that doesn't change the fact that there is a growing market for just a basic "the anime company" and I hope Klein wakes up to this and manages to reach this demographic before some kook steals it from him - because its rightfully his no matter how you look at it

I guess I just needed to hear it from someone else. Thank you anonbro
Anyone know how i could make a wooden diy ledge that folds/is split into 2 pieces? Making a solid one is pretty simple, but i can't think of a way of doing a compactly storeable one without making the grind surface uneven or sketchy. I'm planning to set it up at my uncles huge farm garage, but it needs to fit in my van as well (there's a tool cabinet inside the trunk so the space is smaller than normal). Any plans or just ideas welcome.
So, I found this for five bucks. I've always wanted the Video Days dvd, but I know it goes for up to fifty on eBay.
Should I sell? Trade for something? Or keep since I'll probably never find it cheap again?
>>1455443
What should I get, if I want to build up pretty much an arithmetic mean of a street skate and a cruiser? I'm thinking 8.25"-8.5" deck 56mm ~90A wheels. Basically for cruising around, but with the ability to do kickflips, shovits, 180s, but nothing too technical.

You need to slow down what you're doing. It has to happen in two steps
Pop and slide front foot to pocket, which will get the board under you and your body centered over it. _Then_ you flick. It will spin under you perfectly with your feet and shoulders over the bolts.
Do what we used to do back in the day and watch someone doing a perfect one in slow motion. With computers its even easier because you can literally step frame by frame. When you do you'll see the two stages

Is wearing knee pads and a helmet acceptable?
I want to start skating and this is what I came up with. Any advice?
>>1469275
>Any advice?
For starters, don't buy parts from Amazon. Try Skatewarehouse
8.7 inch wide welcome board, independent trucks, 60mm minilogo wheels. Primarily for skatepark skating.
Did I do good?
>>1468880
some people might give you funny looks but if its what you need to do then whatever
>>1468880
I've skated nearly every day at the skatepark in helmet, elbow pads, and wrist guards. Never had any looks or comments as far as I can tell. That said, knee pads are really more for vert skating.
I've been watching skateboarding vids on youtube the last couple of days (suffer from insomnia due to depression so I basically stay up all night arsing about until I pass out then have to wake up for work).
Anyway, might be a stupid question but I'm wanting to get a board that won't break the bank, never even touched one before but I'm 21.
I just wonder if it's even worth getting one because I live in a rural town in England and the paths aren't great, and it's really quite hilly, I'd be using it just to commute to the shops to get a sandwich and shit like that.
Will I be just picking it up and carrying it the 50% of the time that I'm going up an incline.
Also do boards wear out? Although I won't be doing any tricks because I can't afford a wrist fracture or broken ankle when I've got mouths to feed. What kind of maintenance/replacements do you need? Just bearings and wheels?
>>1469317
Why not? Not the guy you replied to but i built a complete cheaper on amazon than i did on skatewarehouse and it used the same exact parts save for hardware and griptape. Granted it was only a saving of about 15 dollars but savings none the less.
>>1469602
if you buy a complete from skatewarehouse, you can get a $30 discount
>>1469691
How much should I be looking for a full board with decent hardware? I imagine hardware makes a big difference. Complete beginner, never touched one, but want to get decent hardware without breaking the bank because I might not get into it.
I bought a road bike last year and spent an extra couple of hundred on it to get a decent gear set because people have said if you get the most entry-level shit, it makes it a chore to ride and you won't want to do it, I imagine it's probably similar with decent bearings and wheels.
>>1469691
Just had a look at the skateboard builder, laggy as fuck, no way to sort by price, got a couple of components into it and decided to look for a completed one.
At least in the UK skatewarehouse store, there aren't any of the recommended brands, unless I'm blind.
>>1469721
if you're a beginner the items in that picture will suffice. don't spend too much. there's no 'entry-level' equipment, really
>>1469701
do you mean hardware as in the nuts and bolts that hold on the trucks to the deck, or are you talking about the bearings and wheels
>>1469781
Both.
>>1469602
Thanks anon. I looked up the skater whose name is on it after I bought it, Jason Sanchez, and he's a lot of fun to watch.

can anyone tell me how to shift your weight on a noseslide i can get the nose on the ledge but the back wheels dont lift up, is it a commitment issue?
>>1465301
put your back foot in the pocket it makes landing in manual easier, and when your sliding dont ollie higher than you need to sorta mob it then try to land squared
>>1469842
put your weight on the nose you fuckwit, holy shit
>>1461079
No one will at least tell me if this is shit or not.
>>1469964
Its good, filming is shit tho. Too shaky and bad angles/filmed from too far.
Sometimes when I take hippers I'll get this ball type thing in my hip that'll hurt like a total bitch if I massage my hip to the point where I touch it, and prevents me from bending my leg certain ways. Is there any way I could fix this quicker than just waiting? Im not sure if it's just inflammation or if it's scar tissue that needs to be broken up or something. It mostly hurts if I bend my leg into those butterfly stretches and try flexing my glutes.
>>1468880
Who cares. The less injury you take from slams the more you'll be able to skate. That tough guy mentality of walking off a slam doesn't work when your joints get to the point where they're so damaged they lock up or are slowed down from the friction caused by swelling/lost cartilage.

any northeast ohio skaters here? I have no friends who skate and I cant find anyone around me to skate. Nearly no parks where I live either...
>>1470958
Written with before and after (when you deem them unskateable) use photos. Describe board feel, insole impact reduction etc. People mostly care how durable the shoe is, and how does it feel in your feet, like is it a stiff shoe, or a super comfy flexible one.
>>1470893

to me, the main part of your skateboard are the trucks, everything else is just replaceable.
what I mean is that as you progress in skateboarding you'll try different board sizes, different kind of wheels and bearings, but the trucks and how tight or loose you use them, are the ones that will determine your style
Anyways, its just my opinion..
I'm trying to learn layback grinds, I've landed twice something like a laybacklipslide and it felt awsome!

What do you guys think on independent stage 11 trucks? I just got some and they're on the way. No clue what thread to post in so I posted in the other one too.
>>1472882
>>1473005
Indys are the best , its what most people ride including plenty of pros. Once you know what to look for you can tell in photos even pros on other truck companies ride them. Stage 11 is better than stage 10 iirc they're mostly redesigned to fit the new independent replacement bushings they came out with. If you really want to know the difference in the stage 11 vs other stages the Indy site will tell you. I have an old pair of stage 7s I kept because I like them but its not like you can really tell the difference.
>>1472404
You should try front side 5-0 laybacks to tail, they're fun and you can grind a bit before going into the layback.
Rails are 10/10 for transition skating. I recommend getting pig rails personally, they don't add too much height like bones rails and don't protect your graphic as much but it's like always having a waxed board and grabs are easier. Also a pro tip is to set your rail up how you want it on your board, hand screw your screws in half way then take everything off, and then rescrew your screws in without the rail and then take them out and sand around the holes until it's flush with everything else instead of sticking up around the sides. Your rails will never come off unexpectedly and your wood won't split.

>>1474340
do not do this. Walmart boards are garbage that barely work. The trucks break and the wheels aren't made out of the right urethane. They're seriously worse than not having a board.
If you go to a skate shop and ask for a shop board it is usually only $30
Then you could get some used trucks+wheels of Craigslist or from someone at the park for 30 also
Those Walmart boards don't even have the right kind of grip, its like slippery

>1 week all cool
>he's now working full time this summer
>doesn't skate
>don't feel like going alone because I'll simply be a retard in the same spot trying to ollie
oh well, the weather doesn't help too shits like 35 celsius or more
Anybody familoar with globe as a brand? Just bought a complete of theirs with slant trucks.
>>1476707
Its not really a brand its just the name given to generic dwindle decks that they sell at discount prices and sporting goods outlets due to Globe shoes brand recognition globally. The decks are the same as any other dwindle deck. The trucks and wheels are probably shite though.
>>1476707
They make comfy shoes
>>1476574
It does suck to skate alone, but even skating at the park with strangers is fun imo. I see the irony in telling someone this on 4chan but you could try making friends at the park. Thats where I met most of my friends.
Yo
Question: I'm building a skateboard and I was wondering if I can put stickers on the top and put clear grip tape? Would it affect my skating in any way (mostly planning on using it as a cruiser, but in case I don't) Pic Related. Going for a Weeb Trash theme. Some stickers I have lying around.
>>1476738
that deck is cringe unless it's ironic
>>1476743
it is. Friends and I have stupid decks
>>1476738
>Would it affect my skating in any way
Nope
>>1476738
thats some expensive irony
how do I get my front foot to get back on the board when i kickflip?
I flick out the right way but I just can't get my foot to come back to the board
>>1476772
jump really high and put your foot back on the board. its 100% a mental thing
>>1476792
i think its pretty dope desu, not really a sonico fan but the top graphic isnt half bad.
what i see some guys at the park do is glue down a bunch of old hentai manga pages before clear gripping. looks pretty fucking cool
>>1476738
>mostly planning on using it as a cruiser, but in case I don't
I hate guys like you, you're the most boring cunts to skate with. Why don't you just say "if I don't learn an ollie in the first 20 minutes i'm not going to bother trying to learn."
I got a friend like you and he claims he just likes cruising around on his board, but anytime we suggest going somewhere he says he doesn't want to go because it's too far. He'll try to ollie once the entire sesh then sit on his phone and say nothing.
Die kook scum.
>>1476340
This but resized to be on a skateboard
>>1476738
I mean honestly, yeah, it would. Clear grip really sucks. Even the best versions of it feel slippery compared to normal grip. Also the size of the "grains" in the grip are larger and its not a good thing. I assure you you will see what I mean as soon as you ride it for a bit. I'm not saying its terrible or it won't work but you honestly couldn't say clear grip is just as good as regular grip because its just not at all. It works but nowhere near as good.
>>1476743
What brand HASNT done a lewd-cartoon-chick series? Real has. 18 has. Baker has. Its basically a skate graphic meme, being buttmad when it's done anime style is jockish
>>1476807
Sorry about ur friend anon, I use it mostly as a cruiser bc I live in the middle of fucking nowhere. I'll usually borrow my friends deck if I plan on doing tricks
>>1476803
this sounds fun
>>1476870
Thanks for the advice. I got this feeling it wouldn't be as good when I first got it.
>>1476940
this guys got it. Im p sure my guy sold it to me bc he wasn't much of a joker and probably wouldn't take it out as much as I would
Thanks anons
>>1476870
I ride a deck with clear grip tape and it seems to be just as good as standard jessup. The grains are a bit bigger but it feels pretty much the same as black grip with smaller grains.
Unless you're pro and every little detail makes a difference, get the clear grip tape so you can see your stupid stickers through it just like i can see my stupid toy machine logo through mine.
any suggestions for longboards that would let me keep up with my gf on her bike (she's a casual rider so not too fast).
I've been looking at buying a pre-built online and just swapping out the bearings for some reds.
How do ya'll feel about freebords?
I'm jelly of that weeb board. What size is it?
Big guy anon here from a whiole back, couldnt find a good double impact board, but it IS my birthday weekend so I decided to get myself a present. 8.5" Greyson Shark board, Thunder trunks (only had them in 8.25 but it shouldn't matter TOO much), Lucky ABEC 3 bearings and some other wheels (can't remember)
Super great to ride, huge step up from the 7.825 board I was riding and this feels SO much better. Still can't ollie but riding feels much better.
>>1477157
Any decent place to order a custom deck or griptape from?
>>1477172
I'm sure I might not be the poster you meant to reply to but I know there's a site I think it's warehouseskateboards or something that do both.
>>1477176
I just replied by accident anon. Anyways I was wondering by big guy are you referring to yourself as tall or fat? I want to get into skating but was wondering what to do as a fat person myself in terms of if I could go past just riding or not.
>>1477207
I'm both tall and a little fat, 6'4" and 230ish pounds
>>1477232
I'm 5'4" and 280 pounds. Do you mean you can't ollie because you can't/don't know how to or that you can't because the board will break?
>>1477244
I'm just a scrub is why. Board feels great
>>1477244
Okay then I'll just find me a decent deck and If I become a scrub then I will get my custom promo deck.
Should I get suspension trucks or just stick to regular trucks?
is there anything wrong with electric longboards? Will people laugh at me and call me casey neistat?
>>1477094
I feel like you'd do better with a skateboard and some soft wheels, I barely ever longboard but when I do they're so heavy and hard to push I couldn't imagine trying to keep up with someone on a bike.
>>1477157
That's actually a fucking awesome* setup. Nice!
*no pun intended
>>1477351
suspension trucks offer nothing new, other than less durability compared to the OG indys and thunders. only braille kooks buy them.
>>1477353
Why wouldn't you just buy a longboard and push twice to reach the same speed? Are you disabled in some way?
>>1458451
don't be dumb
anime has been skateboard related since the 90s
>>1476337
yayyy, I remember you, you 're a rez in /esg/. I just want to know what do you do for money honey?
>>1477157
as in, Greyson Fletcher?
>>1477427
is that your school???? WHy did you post the leap of faith?
Yeah, on element. I did a shoddy grip cutout job too, just wanted a strip near the tail and it's a bit uneven, but who cares this thing is sweet as shit. Love it already
This video is retarded;
Ninja is definitely a kook ( whatever you think of him, wearing your youtube channel as a sticker on your cell phone makes you a kook) but the scooter guy is wrong. Skateboarding is harder than scooting and corporate sponsorship is not the be all end all.
Also, "borrowing" ideas for deck graphics from cartoons is a dance as aold as Morgan Freeman himself
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KIs18JXBKgw
>>1477615
I laughed when he compared a skateboarder skating and being in the way to a scooter rider standing and picking hes nose in front of the hubbas. I don't care if a scooter or a skateboarder get in my way when they actually ride and do tricks, but when they just snake around or stand in front of rails and stairs i want to shank them so bad.
>>1477157
I wanted that deck but it only comes in 8.5, Greyson is one of my favs
>>1477615
Isn't this the same Britcuck who got butthurt about Wes?
>>1477451
Why are Hook-Ups so ugly, /esg/?
>>1477490
i was a barista until just recently. i work in cyber security now. pretty entry level shit but its 40 hours a week. i live really really modestly and dont really have expenses beyond rent and food so i have tons of disposable income. that being said, i might buy a decorative deck once every couple of months and a new deck to ride every 6. i skate a lot but i'm pretty kind to my decks (dont leave em in the hot car my dudes!) so they tend to last a little while. i replace my trucks maybe once a year. when i rode 86b wheels i'd replace them every 2-3 months cause of the wear. i skate 99a now and i replace them probably every 6 months. theres a new park being poured in my area with big concrete bowls and shit so i've been trying to brush up on my tranny. injured my foot pretty badly hanging up on a frontside disaster, and finally healed, but just taking it slow for now.
bit dot ly slash 29K2RG2
end blog post
>>1476940
no one here is buying stupid looking boards just because. this guy digs the board and realizes hes probably gonna get a bunch of shit unless he says "yeah its dumb and ironic heh"
nothing to be ashamed of here bro, its fucking 4chan. if you like anime thats cool. you do you.
>>1477827
sean cliver has a thing for like infusing a little bit of anime-inspired style into traditionally western-style sexy art. i'm not a fan of it either but i'm not going to attempt to imply that the man isn't talented. that being said, i like the 80's/90's insipred art the klien does a lot more.

Is it possible to get a custom graphic deck?

man that ali boulala vice documentary was so sad
rip shane cross
>>1479556
It was , whole thing couldve been avoided had Shane not wanted to go for a ride & didnt they imply he was the one who had been riding earlier too ?
>>1479574
I dont remember that. I remember they said ali was riding with shane everywhere in the back of the van
>>1479574
You can look at it that way, but it could have been avoided if ali didn't go for a ride. Truth is someone is bound to get hurt eventually, when you live a party 24/7 addict lifestyle. Blame the jews for this.
there's something cringey but also disturbing in making KOTR awaards ceremony like a reality show and watching Chad Muska performas his older self.
>>1479580
Well its been a long time since I saw it but that's what I remembered they said happened. The cardiel one is sad too, his friends run him over :(

>>1479652
adidas samba or mark suciu ADV?
I was going to town and I was scared to skate in the bike lanes because if I fell I might get hit by a car or destroy my board. How good should I be before I try it?
How do i powerslide?
i have been snowboarding my whole life, so i feel like i know how to slash, but i just can't get it to slide
could it be the spitfire classic 54mm's i have?
>>1479008
>>1479989
any pastebins for longboard brand info, or is it pretty much the same as the OP?
>>1480074
just take your (You)
>>1480056
no idea
>>1479966
You need to have a certain balance point or you won't slide. Lean back slightly while pushing your back foot forward, you need to use your whole body in this. It's easy when you get it.
>>1456995
That's not disgusting it's inspiring, get outta here
>>1479966
Maybe depending on the durometer. 95-97d wheels are hard to slide, 99s will work, 100s are designed to slide and 101s are even better. Maybe get some 101s to learn with. Its not like doing it on a snowboard at all really because you have to really push into it hard with your entire body, your shoulder on down has to be a little bit behind your back foot and pushing that back foot forward. At first a few years ago they were hard for me to what I did was just learn to slide the board 180. Going slow. Once I could do that I would do it as I was riding down the street, just sliding 180 and 360 kind of like the magenta dudes do. Once I got good enough at that I was eventually able to learn to just do long powerslides while bombing hills and such, actually holding them sideways. But it took a lot of practice actually, I had to learn how they worked first and up until then they just wouldn't work for me.
Now that I'm good at them though and know how they work I can slide anybodies board and on any wheel durometer even cushy ones. Of course having a set of ground down hard wheels are the easiest but you just have to learn the technique and it will click for you and then you'll be doing it all the time because its so fun and youll master them from there
>>1479008
try pointdistrubution.com

>>1480302
Thanks for the thorough response.
My wheels are 99s. Kinda broke atm, so i'll probably stick with them.
Slashing in powder if similar, or so a friend told me.
I can do a 180 while rolling, but i'm doing it with raising one truck. i'll practice keeping both on the ground.
sometimes I wish I was part of the baker team during the baker 3 filming era
that mustve been the life
>>1479652
They look very similar to the adidas fairfax
>>1479652

>he can't do it with both hands

>>1481431
Invest in some of these and learn to apply them properly, you will thank me later. You'll be amazed how well they work
I hate being a pussy who is afraid of human interaction, i have to go skate in the night or the morning, and even then it is pretty meh since i might have to be around people. Anyone else /hikimori/ here? I used to have friends who skated and it was so much fun to skate street spots, feels too awkward to do it alone so i no longer do it.
>>1481524
skating alone is scary and not fun
if you eat shit and hit your head, noone is around to call an ambulance
also, you're less apt to try new things and show off if there's noone who can see you
>>1481527
to each their own: I learn more if I am by myself, whilst skating in the park with people is more relaxing and letting go.
>>1481527
Neither of these bother me tho, i don't fear getting hurt, and i thrive to improve even when alone. I just miss skating with other people, and not having to worry about when the park will be less crowded/empty.
>>1477885

the tail is all pissed, the grip tape on the tail side too and the part where it was chipped and razored went from light green to dark green and has that moist look
So am I fucked? Guess I need a new deck, i'll also upgrade bearings and clean my trucks and wheels since that shit is expensive

It looks like it. I wanna get this board because one of my weaboo friends has had it and let me test it out. The concave feels nice, the width is directly the center of the board, and the wheelbase isn't too long.
