The player customization was top-tier

Only one I have ever played is WCW vs nWo.

It was good from what I remember.

Is there much of a difference with these? as far as I recall I think '06 had better gameplay but '07 had better visuals and more legends in the roster

Best pro wrestling game hands down, captures the feel of puroresu amazingly well and has tremendous, idiotic levels of customization down to a pretty damn precise AI editor. And I like that they went the extra mile and added K1 and PRIDE dudes and rulesets to the mix.

no, he's right. I've been playing No Mercy for the first time in a long time over the last few weeks. The countering system is bullshit when in comes to the cpu. CPU can counter you even when their attitude is completely drained. They can counter your attacks like 80% of the time, while you can only counter like 30%. Even fucking Mae Young can counter you a shit ton of times. It's fucking retarded.
