Isn't this satellite and cable though? I always stream it live from watchwrestling.to and a lot of people either use the network or watch it on Hulu Tuesday, I haven't had the need for cable or satellite for 6 or 7 years because of so many pirate sites and I think thats the case for most people.

TV ratings in general are falling as people switch more and more to online content. Even with that in mind, this is not good. It's not devastating either though, i don't want to be hyperbolic and claim that this will kill them or any such nonsense. it is a concern though. The last time WWE renewed with USA Network, they were offered less money to renew. I expect that trend to continue, or they may even have to find a whole different network if USA Network isn't interested any more. Then you have to take sponsors into account. They're going to be worried too. Is supporting a dipping product worth it? Are they getting value for their money? Is their brand being hurt by being associated with a product that people are starting to turn away from?

The problems we're all seeing now weren't created in the last 2 months or even the last 12 months.

They've been slowly and insidiously been created over the last 10 years, between HHH's reign of terror and the super cena era, no more than 1 guy at a time has been built up in any meaningful way. Think about the new generation era in WWF for example - Hogan was the only talent who was built as unstoppable and when he left, they were left with guys who'd been chewed up and spat down the card to keep the same old shit floating on top.

The real problems of today are:

1 Too many 50:50 bookings in feuds, nobody gets a run going.

2. Too many scripted promos - you arent seeing the wrestlers personalities in the promos, you're seeing the writers personalities, and thats why they come across as jarringly unpassionate in most cases. Plus theres a circulation of writers around the talent pool, if they kept one writer to a couple of wrestlers and kept some fucking coherence in their storylines itd work a lot better. plus it'd soon be obvious which writers were shit and which were good when a certain 2-3 wrestlers are all been given dogshit every week, the common denominator would be easy to spot.

3, Too much ignorance of those who were getting over in favour of those deemed easier to control and market to kids

4. Old men making all the decisions - Vince and Kevin Dunn are way past their prime, how many 60 and 70 year olds can truthfully connect with a young audience when it comes to entertainment.

Cena was just the tool they picked to build the company around for 10 years. He does everything the company asks and has priority booking in place of an actual developed wresting personality.
