Hi
>>
>tfw have only had this board since February and it's already this torn from relearning the basics

>>1213867
lel, note taken
>>
>>1213884
hm, yes, I changed two boards since January.
>>
>>1213889
Gunna try to make it last me most of the summer.
>>
>>1213891
money issues?
>>
>>1213892
Very much so, boards are a tad pricey in Canada
>>
>>1213893
I 'd suggest to save up to have for a new board, so you can skate with peace of mind. Other than that, it's up to you; how fast you progress and how much you skate. If you don't mind, you can always get hooked with used boards of other skaters for a very small price.
>>
>>1213898
Plan on saving for a new one, I need new trucks too because these ones I got are awful ones I had for my 7.75 and I didn't have enough to upgrade. I'll probably get those when I get my new board.
>>
>>1213901
buy trucks first then, it's truly an investment. Boards come and go and you adapt, but I think trucks are what make the experience worth it.
>>
>>1213902
Very true. Anons send me your old boards, help a brotha out.
>>
>>1213893
you can just buy blank decks you know, these are fine for just the basics
>>
>>1213884
Looks fine to me.

Tfw I haven't skated for two years but wanna do it again but setup was already old at time so I need an entire new one but I can't justify the expendeture.
>>
>>1214909
Also I like my shoes too much and I went through shoes like crazy when skating
>>
I'm still riding my old deck from like 8 years. Currently riding old phantom 2s. Would I benefit if I got a set if indys if I get a new deck or should I just stick with what I got?
>>
>>1214911
Shoe's come and go, you can slow the the process with shoe too.
>>
>almost had heelflips within a few days of starting to learn them
>all of the sudden lose all ability to do them

It's like a fucking switch turned from on to off instantly. Before, I was consistently landing them with one foot, and now I can't even get close to getting the rotation.

They just go completely vertically and sometimes the board wraps around my back foot almost like half of an impossible. I can rarely ever get the board to spin anymore.
>>
>>1214989
Board lost its pop? Thinking too much? Trucks tightness slipped?

Fyi having too tight trucks makes small loosenings caused by bumps change the feel of your board a lot more drastically than if you ride with looser trucks.

>>1214987
I used to shoe goo the fuck out of my shoes but no shoes don't come and go anymore I have to pay for them

Well my 25 dollar skateboard arrived, I'm not sure what I was expecting but the board will definitely need to be reinforced with some plywood, the wheels need to be loosened, the trucks tightened.

So I feel I shall return in a few hours with the results, I think when I'm done it should be pretty serviceable as a starting penny board

Pretty sure it was meant to be a children skateboard but I don't remember that being listed in the description at all. Probably doesn't help that I'm at least at 175lbs

Lol Phantom 2s... Wow... Do you have the ones with the bright blue hangar? Phantom 2s were terrible trucks I'm genuinely surprised they lasted you so long, the baseplate is garbage. So you'd be doing yourself a huge favor by getting anything else. But the weight will be a bit heavier since theyre going to be higher quality than those. Those trucks are pretty light so you might need to get the hollow Indy's for them to feel the same.

if I'm remembering right, Phantom 2s are a clone of an older version of Ventures, so you could get Ventures and the geometry/turning would be the same. Hollow Ventures are not easy to find though, they do make them but you might have to buy them online. Ventures are made in the same factory as Indy so they're just as high quality.

I wouldn't throw them away when you're done with them they might be a collectible one day

What do you guys skate normally? street, park, tranny etc?
What do you want to be really good at?

Personally I wan't to be able to destroy a mini ramp, haven't been on one since I started but the place I'm moving has a couple nice wooden mini ramps / mini bowls.
>>
>>1218825
For whatever reason, fuckers that ride scooters have no idea of how menacing they are until you say 'hey get off the coping, move away or stop riding behind me' etc. Admittedly I told some mother who was there to look after her son whom of which I nearly killed if I hadn't bailed mid air and pulled the board out from underneath me which was going straight for his head, he just appeared under the gap of an A-frame I was sessioning.

I ate absolute shit of course, asked if he was okay. The mother tells me to watch what im doing. I told her to get off her fucking phone look after her child and fuck off if she cant.

So she fucked off. Says a lot. Right?

We have a pretty smooth concrete park here which is pretty good and there's almost never any scooter kids and everyone is mostly 20 years and older so it's pretty nice.

Yo, I am just getting into the shit because of a few friends encouraging me (I owned a board for years and only ever rode it, not brave enough for tricks). Today I managed to learn ollying whilst still...any advise on doing so moving? And just like...shit for beginners in general?

Be gentle, my ass is a virgin.
>>
>>1219841
First of all you have to be comfortable riding around. No point trying to do tricks while rolling if you tripping every 3 feet.
>>
>>1219847
I am incredibly comfortable riding around, at this point it's second nature.

I can relatively consistently ollie stationary, and I've done it once moving, though it was sloppy. I just can't quite get it.
>>
>>1219841
Take it slow, give yourself 2 or 3 pushes and do an ollie, it's actually quite easy.
>>
>>1219861
Is it gonna be normal for the board to shoot out and me to fall sorta backwards sideways the first few times I fuck up?
>>
>>1219855
>I've done it once moving, though it was sloppy
That's good, it's just gonna take lots of practice then.
>>
>>1219865
If you're landing sideways it's best you can't keep your shoulders squared when you pop your board.
If it shoots out and you fall back, it's you not committing enough

I can't get my trucks any looser without my nut getting loose enough to be turned with my fingers. Is this normal? Will it slowly get looser while skating?

And anyone know what's the name of that skateboard video that was posted in one of the previous /esg/ threads recently, where it's just one guy being featured and they have alot of nice shots at the start of people looking at them as they pass by? The bushings will wear in over time. Love mine loose but fresh trucks need riding in. Lord knows my indy's did.

Also...anyone found their soul deck? The one for them. I did, one on the right nearly snapped a couple of days ago after 3 weeks of skating.

So...I had to get her again, we'd only just met.
>>
So my ollies are consistent-ish but fairly low to the ground, but every time I put in the power to go even a bit higher I just lose control of my upper body and the board.

Should I just get my ollies on lock and gradually try and make them higher learning other things? or should I be sticking with ollies till i can get the decently high no problem?
>>
>>1220946
Try to ollie over objects like a soda can or Gatorade bottle, don't know how it works but I always notice that I ollie higher when there's a obstacle in my way.
Hope that somewhat helps.

>>
>>1221126

Honestly, I dunno. I read up a little bit on them and figured why the hell not? I might lose them for regular reds, but I'm definitely in it for that deck primarily. I was mildly worried I wouldn't find any Spitfire wheels that would match the color scheme.

I'm also not too sure about the trucks.

My set up. Deck = 4 years, trucks probably 6 years, wheels maybe 4 years, hardware 4 years, bearings are probably the last thing I bought so maybe 3 years ago. Haven't skated it in a year, haven't done a trick in 3. Used to be able to 360 flip + impossibles (both not consistent). Do I need to replace everything (im stingy).
>>

Can't speak for the trucks and wheels but a 4 year old deck might be a bit soggy.
If you're serious about skating again, why not start fresh?
>>
>>1221618
Probably just replace the deck and maybe wheels and trucks depending on their state
>>
>>1221635
Yeah the deck is fucked. The wheels seem okay, bushings are fucked. Hardware is untightenable cause the heads are all dethreaded and the kingpins are the same. I think I need to start over but its gonna cost me over £100 to get a setup like this again
>>
>>1221768
Plus I'm fickle with my hobbies and have no friends who skate so there is a risk I won't use it

>>

This might come out to like $45 bucks. I was thinking about getting better trucks if upgrading anything. I don't know if any of you have experience with royals
>>

Those Royals are the old models and they weren't very good, that's why they're so cheap. If you really wants Royal's, buy their newer stuff.

For an 8" deck, get 8" trucks. Don't cheap out on trucks so much. Get Thunder Highs. It's worth the extra bucks. If money is really an issue and you can only afford those trucks then get a 7.75" deck instead and get the 52mm keyframes. It's easier to learn on a lighter setup, imho.

The rest should be okay. Have fun!

>>
>>1220894

They will 'break in' but it only takes a few hours. If they're still too hard for you then get softer bushings. Indy makes 5 bushings. The red ones are the softest. Shorty's dohdoh makes various bushings as well. Try different bushings purchasing the softest you can and see which gives you the turning you want.

If you want to get even softer than the softest available, you can take a razorblade and cut a millimeter or two off of the bushing. There are howtos online about how to do this. It will make your trucks super loose. A guy at my skatepark does this and his trucks rattle they are so loose.

Also longboard companies like Khiro make bushings that will fit skateboard trucks , so maybe they have some soft ones to try too. But I've only heard about that, never tried it meself.

Even if you loosen the kingpin nut as much as you can, when you're riding you're pushing down on the trucks, so the looseness of the nut won't matter, you're working against the bushings themselves since you're pressing into them.

33. Only started skating at the beginning of the year. Got a cruiser for fucking around and a regular board to learn tricks with. Only recently got ollies locked down.

Sometimes I get embarrassed about being an old cunt learning to skate but then I remember how much fun I'm having and just get on with it.

23. Stopped at 16, picked it back up at 19, stopped at 20, picked it back up about a year ago. In the past year I've improved about 100x faster than the previous 22 years combined, and am super close to landing treflips. I've found that having a few friends to skate with makes all the difference. It just makes things more enjoyable, you end up motivating each other to push limits, try new tricks, trade tips, etc. Also, when you alternate between skating and watching your friend(s) skate, you end up exerting yourself less and can skate for longer periods of time.

I just started skating about a week ago. I've been rolling around my neighborhood almost everyday, but the streets are rough as fuck. My push leg is sore from pushing so much and my feet get numb from the vibration.

Faster, idk depends on how you push but yes you will have to push less, those wheels absorb bumps more so they lose inertia to them less, plus the large size wheel alone will mean you have to push less. I think those are the best cruiser wheel because they have a normal shape so they dont gave extra useless weight like other cruiser wheels. You might need to put on riser pads even the small 1/8" ones because at 56mm those wheels might wheelbite but you don't really NEED to just bear that in mind

i been sk8ing for 7 years almost 8 im not the best just an amateur but i only sk8 street. Sometimes it depends becuase you might try say for instance a big flip and you might hit your shin or fall because of loss in balance depending on speed. mostly try to fall and slide your knees but its not the best. i would say just test yourself you will know when you get there. Second on the es accelerates I'm poor and have had many pairs of these now because I can count on them to last months and months. The plastic piece on the side is in the perfect spot for protecting rip areas and if you superglue the edges of it, they are nearly indestructible. The sole lasts forever and it must be high quality because even when its bald it grips good enough I can skate them until I literally have a hole in the sole where my big toe is. The insole it comes with isn't that great thats a downside, but replacement insoles fit in them well, I also like how the sides and achielles area actually have padding which a lot of shoes these days dont

If you tell people they're too fat to get active, they won't take it to heart and carefully diet their way to a slimmer size and then get active.

They'll just not do anything (and likely get fatter). If someone wants to skate, I don't see why you should disqualify them for whatever reason.

Nigga, you are the one being autistic.
If you hadn't realised the guy is copying and pasting the general text, there is also little evidence to suggest it is just one purpose.

It's more autistic for you to post multiple times a thread trying to start shit with "le autistic op".

Copypasta'd with my own shitty musical taste edited in.

that 'll do

just a heads up, I found the OP when I came here, although it still carries some input from me.
So no matter what, you 'll still be copying and pasting a piece of me. I 'm not talking about the music either. Does that make you feel doity inside?
>>
>>1227591
Not really. I just wanted the general to be more than a blank OP post like that other one.

Why can't you guys wait until we reach 320 replies to make a new thread.
>>

listen pal I haven't even been here before, I'm brand new. and if I didn't have that pastebin I would've been mucking up this thread with all kinds of stupid newb questions. there's a good reason for copying and pasting stuff in the op of remade threads around 4chan, literally anyone can see that

makin a straight fool out of yourself
