The old thread was quite nice and actually got me back into skating. Been rocking the seba fr1's for about a month now. Thanks to the anons that recommened getting them.

Anyone got a chance to test the metroblade?
>>
I tried to pre order a pair of metroblades but they kept pushing the release date back and I really wanted to get skating. I got the twister 80 instead. Really nice skates.

Probably going to get some new blades in the future but I'm going to put my current pair through the ringer.
Luckily my wrist is healed so I can get back out again though I don't think I'm going to go back to trying anything new and just hit the streets for some speed.

Planning to get Valo V13 but noticed the cuff is on rivets as this old Roces model, not on bolts.
Did anyone had/know any problems with it (breakings pr something else)?

Usually they're fine but you can use Razors cuff hardware if needed

There are no problems afaik.

V13/M12 are one of the oldest designs and hasn't change much with the exception of materials used because it just works.

Sup guys. I'm interested in starting inline skating, but I'm total newbie.

I've read some info and I know, that it's bad idea to buy some market skates, so I won't do shit like that.

I even found one skates that I might buy, but I wanted to ask you about opinion on these:

ROCES M12 UFS
<pic related>
PU 58mm/88A
abec 3

I'm asking about these, because I would rather buy in my city, not by web shops and these were only decent ones I've found.

So, what do you think about these?
>>
>>1204311
Ah, and I'm interested in agressive skating.
>>
>>1204311
>>1204314
Those are definitely good for beginners, but if you can, try to get the Valo versions of that skate since they come with a much better frame and bearings (The included roces frame is absolute trash by today's standards). The Valos also come with a lower cut cuff and liner.

The bearings on those are sub par and will need to upgrade. The wheels are about average but not premium and can suffice for the most part. The M12 shell is a kinda a narrow fit so make sure your feet are not fat marshmallows and your good to go.

For protection, get a helmet at least. Trust me, you will need it as a beginner and if you start hitting any sort of jumps or ramps.
>>
How the hell are you meant to control speed on steep hills?

T break just shreds the wheels, and slaloming doesn't seem to help much, but maybe I'm just doing it wrong.
>>
>>1204727
T break harder. If you wanna live.
>>
>>1204727
Magical slide or do more narrow turns
>>
>>1204764
Yh that is what I'm having to do, sucks as it kills wheels so fast though.

>>1204784
I can't hockey stop yet unfortunately, but is that safe to do at high speeds anyway?
>>
>city had excellent, wide, paved sidewalks
>pavement is now replaced with ugly-ass concrete tiling

Fucking kill me. It used to be that I could inline to a destination as fast as a car, now skating is pure hell.
>>
>>1204727
Slalom works fine. Aim to end up perpendicular to your initial movement vector. Good way to learn parallel stop too.
>>
>>1204439
Well, these will be my first rollerblades ever, so probably I won't see that much difference.

Also - if I'm not mistaken, I will be able to change almost every part of those skates to different, if I they broke or if I want to upgrade, right? (They have frame in that UFS system).

When it comes to buying things like Valo skates, in my country rollerblades are not so popular, so cheapest Valo's i've found cost about 50$ more, which is pretty much - and I would have to buy them online, instead of testing them in real, like those Roces.

After making few first steps in basic riding skates, I will buy helmet for sure.

Thanks for your help.

That is correct. For those Roces you can change the frames, souls, buckles, and liner. The cuff can be changed too, but it's a bit tough since its connected via a rivet bolt and not and allen key bolt you see on some skates.

Guys, any suggestion when it comes to buying a helmet?
>>
>>1208683
Honesty, just go to your local sports store and try to find that best fits around your head. Its really annoying to wear a helmet that doesn't fit right.

Some helmets simply don't fit on my head well enough in any size, like Triple Eight helmets. I had to resort to buying a some weird skateboard branded helmet at my local Target because it was the only thing that fit my head just right, plus they had it was on sale for like $15.

Also try to buy one that's certified for skating/biking. Pic related is considered a "multipurpose" helmet with no certification and will most likely not do its job in a big impact. Notice it's just a liner with a plastic covering.
>>
>>1208683
I'd hope you'd already have wrist guards maybe some knee/elbow pads
>>

Nah, I'm going to buy first full set (I mean, skates, helmet, pads) this week, so just wanted to know if I should be aware of something.

V13 or G11?
>>
>>1217446
V13 with FTL3 I meant.
>>
>>1217526
FLT3s are a great anti rocker set up. They can be ridden flat as well, but its subpar as a flat setup as oppose to other frames that are available made specifically for flat

Binding the laces.
Wanna get some backpack with carrying straps but I like them huge and still looking ok for city.
Currently have Dakine Campus 33L. Is there any blader backpacks big as this one?
And with durable bottom, Campus has too thin one.
>>
>>1218412
Agreed. But I can't decide what boot to choose. Genesys 11 has FLT3 as stock.
V13 stock frame is not really good as I heard, but they're lighter, so I considered to get them boot-only with FLT3 but still can't choose.
>>
>>1219768
The stock Valo frame is a much better all rounder frame than the FLT3. The do both Flat or anti quite well, but obviously not as well as more specialized frames. Plus they are beefy as shit (more so than FLT3s), are hard to break, and will last a long time. A lot people unfortunately discount them simply because they are "the stock frame" that Valo offers so it's quite a shame.

But hey, if you need them FLT3s by all means get them. As for the boot, it really up to preference on what you want. If you have a wider foot and want a more true to size feel then I would stick to the Genesys. If you have a more narrower foot and want a more streamline feel then get the Valo. They both have similar amount of flex, and yea the Genesys are heavier. The Valo has a tiny as fuck negative plate with the stock souls. Genesys have a good amount on both sides.

Idk man just get whatever interest you more or the one you can get a better deal with, they are both great skates.

Thoughts?
>>

Their large ride height makes it a bit more of a handful for beginners.

Otherwise though, its a sleeking looking comfy cruiser. You can do powerslides (no pun intended) with it if your skilled enough, and can get over some pretty rough terrain.

Thanks man! Didn't find complete Valo sets near me though, so I need some frames anyway.
I saw Create Originals, Kizer Fluid/Slim and Youth frames, they all look neat and price is ok.
However it's like none of them as beefy as Valo stocks.
>>
What about 100mm-125mm speedskates ?
Are they worth it if I want to go speedy speed boy?
>>
>>1232928
One dude from our park bought speedskate setup, seen him a week ago.
He barely stood on them despite he skated many years.
These skates are good for start from low position and very long pushes, shins aren't fixed. But this is good for some long tracks with wide turns, not for city I guess.
If you want skate in the city, get some regular freeskate model and long 4 or 5 wheels frame. Also these three wheel setups as one above are pretty good.
Besides get some ILQ9 or better bearings and use liquid oils (Bones speedcream or something like this), not greases.
You'll need to change it more often than grease, so better keep your bearings one side covered.
>>
>>1232928
Sure. But that low as fuck boot cut will take a while to get used too and usually only used of flat surfaces.
Also I think those types of boots are really picky about feet sizes and is really a "try before you buy" sort of deal. But I really have no idea desu.

Personally I would get that frame and stick a Powerslide Imperial boot on it to fill the need for speed.

>>
>>1237993
Sick. I have boot damage too, without holes though. I read some people use medical plaster tape or this stuff for hockey sticks to protect it.
>>
How fucking long does it take to master the parallel slide. So far, I've only been able to do a perfect slide once and then never again.
>>
>>1238208
I spent two seasons on it, ripped a right knee pad, jeans and my hip hurt so much I stopped trying this.
Asphalt isn't the same everywhere anyway, so this wouldn't be helpful to train it at park only, 'cause it would be the way harder to perform this on other surfaces. Also speed should be pretty high to get the parallel good, because it has a heavy breaking effort. But once you've made a mistake, the speed punishes you.
I've learned many other stuff instead and kept wheels an boots alive.
If you really want to learn it, keep trying, use different surfaces, everytime mind the technique, knees bending, body turn and stuff.

>>
>>1238208
A full hockey stop on inlines is pretty fucking difficult. Your best bet is to do learn on a polished/painted concrete surface, or basically any proper rink surface, and then transfer that skill to other surfaces if need be. Much easier to learn on a surface where you wheels will slide instead of grip.

Also, as the other guy said, there's no such thing as a low speed hockey stop. You have to be moving quickly and that means it hurts more when you inevitably get it wrong.
