You can make a 70s-90s look by getting a flakjacket and their version of ALICE webbing for around ~100 USD probably ( IFFFFF you can find someone to ship the vest over-seas).

I really like the infantry look, but I dislike the flak jacket with ALICE. The more modern infantry are called "IdZ" which is an acronym that translates to "Future Soldier". They use the verticle and horizontal crossed MOLLE vest. Good fucking luck finding one of those online I've been looking for months. You might want to look at the Jallschirmjager (Paratrooper) or Kampfretter (Para-Rescue). Jallschirmjager is a sort of middle-ground between IdZ and KSK. They use more typical plate carriers and a bit cooler equipment without being full spec-ops. I have source pictures for any of these groups, if you want some just ask.

Here in the US at least, doing a retro kit like Panama/Grenada or Gulf War era is the cheapest way to go. Everything will be sub $50 for gear and you can get away with looking a little farb since no one ever does them.
Case in point in this pic I have Revisions on when I should have SWDGs and no one even called me out on it, hell people complemented on the kit. They were just a stand in for that day, and now I have a pair of correct goggles. It also helps to properly blouse your pants with blousing bands, and not the strings like I did.

No bro, that's only for the newer gen AEP pistol batteries so they can work in your AEP SMG. Unless you modify the receiver of your Mac 10 by removing almost all of the battery compartment, you won't be able to fit a 1000mah lipo.

What you can do is solder wires to the connectors in the back and stuff in a 2S ~800mah that matches the dimensions of your AEP battery, Blade CX style batteries should fit.

It works really well as its DMR role, and it nets me about 380 with .4's. Cost me $140 total, and a tech friend installed most of it for free. At the same time, I can sorta guess how you'd spend that much. $100 on a top of the line barrel that's been lapped, polished, and R-hopped, $100 on a BTC Spectre computerized MOSFET, $100 on Siegetek gears, and $100 on a Retro Arms reinforced CNC gearbox puts you at $400 already for all the AEG parts widely considered top of the line. A tier 2 real steel sight puts you in another $100. Then comes exterior parts. If someone goes for uncompromising quality, it can add up quick.
