Is he the best of all time?
He's in the top 3.
You could make the argument he's number one, and it would be hard to disagree with.
I think the best are:
Bret Hart - Best wrestler.
Ric Flair - Best heel.
Hulk Hogan - Best face.
>>1104479
Yeah. He's one of the best, for sure.
Best anti-hero? Austin?
>>1104472
Not even the best clown of wrestling, that goes to Doink
How many people honestly stopped believing wrestling was real after they saw their first Ric Flair 'match'?
Be honest now
>>1104472
yes
>>1104472
Probably not. A lot of it comes back to your measuring stick for 'best' - drawing power, career importance, quality of matches, personal enjoyment, etc.
In the conversation? By most standards, yeah.
I don't personally rate him that high, but then again I only started watching wrestling in the early 2000s, so I didn't see his best stuff.
>>1106073
Have you seen one of his matches that isnt his last one?
Then you have seen them all
>>1106077
Flair gets kind of a bad rap on that. Yes, he's got his stock spots. But his matches usually aren't super-samey unless he's working a total stiff (which, yeah, did happen more than it should have).
name the last guy you saw wrestle a 60 minute match. there is a reason they call him that. not like the cartoon shit you get today.
>>1106154
There has been fuckloads m8
>>1104472
The whole idea of "best" is so damn subjective it becomes meaningless but when you talk about what he brought to the table as a wrestler and entertainer then yeah, he is in the top tier of workers ever in the biz.
>>1106159
but in WWE in the past 20 years? name one. they don't do that shit anymore. it's the goddamn ren and stimpy show now
>>1106194
>Bret Hart vs Shawn Michaels - Wrestlemania 12
>Triple H vs The Rock - Judgment Day 2000
>Brock Lesnar v Kurt Angle - Smackdown 2003
>Triple H v Chris Benoit - Raw 2004
>John Cena v Randy Orton - Bragging Rights 2009
Plus those who have lasted over an hour in royal rumbles such as Mysterio, Benoit, etc.
>>1104472
No, he could have been but he refuses to retire/die
>>1104479
>Bret Hart - Best wrestler.
>Ric Flair - Best heel.
>Hulk Hogan - Best face.
LOL NO
John Cena - Best wrestler.
John Cena - Best heel.
John Cena - Best face.
>>1104472
Bayley is
Stone Cold's the GOAT.
GOAT Draw. Most over person ever. One of the GOAT talkers. Great wrestler.
Ric's second or third, contesting with Hogan.
>>1108715
yup SCSA is certainly the GOAT in terms of overall package
>wrestled most of his career outside WWE, matches he had in WWE were mostly shit
>watching outlaw wrestling
>tips fedora
Roman Reigns is better.
>>1108721
This is so bad it's almost meta-bait.
>>1108715
The Rock's the GOAT.
GOAT Draw. Most over person ever. One of the GOAT talkers. Great wrestler.
Austin is second or third, contesting with Hogan.
>>1106073
>more than 12 years
>not enough time to look back at stuff that didn't even happen a long time ago
>he's a "itwasbeforemytimesowhyshouldIcare" millennial-pleb
>>1108807
>all my furniture are rentals
>>1106207
As far as I know, NWA wrestlers would wrestle for an hour on a weekly or monthly basis, not once in their careers.
And they probably made sense in terms of the overall story as well, whereas today wrestlers can't show up for five minutes without being inconsistent.
>>1108735
Austin was always more over and was a much better draw
>>1108845
This.
>>1104496
This to be honest with you all, family.
>>1108735
Bruno Samarrtino
Dominated the northeast and pulled in people in the Hogan era.
Wasn't much of a talker. Didn't need it. Power moves, stomping and domination of heels spoke louder than words.
Sold out MSG,Philly Arena,Boston Gardens. WWF/E's foundation man.
>>1104472
Flair is the most overrated fat ass of all time
>>1108963
So basically Bork?
>>1108831
Watching an hour long Flair match would be fucking torture
Does he just repeat his 4 stock spots over and over again?
He's not even the best nature boy of all time.
>>1108845
yup inside wrestling Austin>Rock
>>1104472
I never liked Flair.
His hour matches with Steamboat are soooo fucking good. I'm not his biggest fan ever, but they are some of the best period.
I didn't really like him back then - was way into Warrior, Savage, and Junkyard Dog. Don't think he had much kid appeal.
To be a man you got to be a meme
decent on the mic but who the fuck actually likes to watch a ric flair match.
