What's your #1 absolute topper favorite insect or arachnid?
For me, absolutely the Orchid Mantis
Had this swol spider for nine months now. By far my favorite.

Tiger beetles

Whip spiders.
Sicarius probably. Long-lived turbo recluse that's too shy to bite. Likes to get cuddly under sand and takes on the color of the sand it's in. Miss my two. I should take them back.
I don't have one, would you sway me /an/?

Praying Mantids are really cool to watch, and are very human-like with the large eyes and upright stance, but tarantulas are cool too.

I love these guys but I'd never have the balls to keep them.
>>2477765
They're safe enough since they can't scale smooth surfaces. Just have a heavy enough cage and a secure lid. Would keep Sicarius all day but won't touch a Phoneutria.
really like Hermetia illucens, because both adult and maggot/prepupa stage are enjoyable to interact with, but I haven't had any for several years.
I suppose right now common paper wasps are probably my favorite, particularly P dominula because they seem so perceptive.
other favorites: house centipede, huntsman spiders, centipede Scolopendra alternans, giant european hornet V crabro, cicada killer, tarantula hawk, june beetles, tailless whip scorpion, mantids
I guess I like a lot of bugs actually
Hercules beetle, rhino beetle, stag beetle, any of those armored fighting beetles
Beetle fights are really fun to watch. They're also not to-the-death, so it doesn't feel cruel like cockfights do.

who is this lad

H-how big ?

Water Scorpion. A "true bug" related to stinkbugs and assasin bugs. They use the front legs to envenomate their prey and then suck out the liquefied insides with their proboscis.
Really into parasitoid wasps lately. Amblypygi and salticidae are close seconds.

I can't quite tell from your picture there, but that looks to be Rabidosa rabida, the rabid wolf spider. A full grown female. I'm doing a project on them right now.
>>2478912
Ah, really? I had assumed that it was some poor agelenid that had been dragged out of its nest by big red there, I'm pretty shit at spider IDs. R. rabidosa definitely looks to be a match for that spider, which is probably full of wasp larvae by now.

*R. rabida. Thanks for the ID.
I live near the Mojave.
New Vegas Cazaores are a slight exaggeration.
