General animal shelter related discussions, and gud dogs from the pound.
She was only 25 bucks
IMO it's extremely hard if not impossible to get the connection to an animal you've raised from birth with adopted companions.
Totality line with the dog.

I got a shelter dog ~1.5yo just five weeks ago and this little guy would die protecting me from any predator 5x his size.
I would also stomp the shit out of anything that tried to act funny around my furry squire.

find a breed specific rescue for something you do like, or a different shelter with politics you agree with

So stinkin cute
What a great looking little scruffy guy
Sometimes with my boys I feel like we got so lucky when we picked them out almost on a whim when I think back. You'll feel like that too unless you already feel lucky af

>they are all The Butt
I call one of mine the butt too.
In regards to your other rescues, did you get them at a young age? Were their health problems apparent when you got them? Did they develop any problems quickly or were frequently sick or anything? Genuinely curious because I almost adopted a puppy mill dog, even made a thread about him, but wimped out because I don't think I could handle his significant medical baggage.
Adopting from a shelter is a good alternative to going to a breeder if you're interested in a lower adoption fee. You can find a lot of purebred animals too. When normies were all over doge memes it wasn't rare to see purebred Shibas as young as four months old up for adoption because some naive person bought them without knowing that they're difficult to train and gave them up a few weeks later.
Pic related, I used to volunteer at a shelter and this is one of my favorite cats I met.
