So my cats favorite thing in the world is ranch dressing, to the point where I give him a little ranch rather than cat treats and on special occasions I'll pour some over his food. But lately I've noticed he's gotten pretty fat. Was it a bad idea to give him ranch?

Who cares? It's just a cat. It's not like it's a real pet or anything.

Then stop feeding your stupid cat concentrated fat that it'd didn't evolve to process

He probably has high cholesterol now too. Stop feeding him ranch.

A tablespoon of ranch is like 100 calories. Dressing it on food probably adds like 200 calories, which is more than many cats should even be eating in a day. Not to mention it's dairy which isn't good for adult cats

if it's only a little bit it shouldn't be a problem, but you have to calculate the portion size" to the size of the cat. giving your cat a dollop of dressing would be as if a human would eat an enire table spoon at least.so if it got that much regularly as a treat, and much more over his food, it's no wonder he got fat.

No.
Anon, this is the point where you have I either give up- like a PUSSY. Or be a MAN and double-down. Instead of reducing his ranch intake, double it. At LEAST. Every time you put food in his bowl, sprinkle a little ranch in the corner.
If you're thinking "where's kitty?" Stop what you're doing, head for the ranch and find your cat.
Don't listen to what everyone tells you. IGNORE the vet if you ever see one.
If you ever get any doubts about your cat just remember this advice:
"Give the cat more ranch."

THIS. Out of all the advice I have to give, none of it is more important or relevant--to this situation or any--than giving your cat more ranch. Ranch dressing is one of the responsibilities you should have been prepared for when you got your cat.

>Ranch
not Thousand Island, the king of dressings

>shitty thousand island over glorious ranch
WTF is wrong with you?
My cat was the same way with coconut oil. He just loves small chunks of the stuff. I stopped giving it to him though.

>double-down
Or you could quadruple-down and start giving it bleu cheese dressing.

Thousand Island is GOAT on burgers.
OP, slather some of that all over a beef patty and give it to your cat. He'll love you for it.

Is that safe? Maybe we should start slow, with some buttermilk ranch at first and work out way up.
