Are Crocodiles and Birds superior compared to Dinosaurs?
How come they survived the cretaceous extinction?
>>2464300
birds evolved from dinosaurs you FFFFFfffffffuckING moroon
Their physical attributes happened to fit the environment of the time better.
>>2464301
>evolution
That in one poorly made cage.

sharks>>>>>everything
>>2464300
Alligators>>>>>everything

>Depends on what do you mean by "superior"
I'm guessing its because they survived the K-pg. That event caused a multitude of environmental problems that caused the extinction that nearly whipped out most terrestrial animals.
1. Crocodilians are semi aquatic animals that can survive over a year or two without eating.
2. Birds that survive were tiny and could fly. Meaning they did not have to eat much and could very easily traverse vast distances for food, which is especially beneficial for a generalist omnivore type bird.
Dinosaurs did not have these advantages. But to say these animals are superior to dinosaurs because of their survivability after a catastrophe is like saying cockroaches are superior to humans because they can even survive a nuclear war.

No terrestrial animals of more than 25 kg survived the extinction.
All the current crocodilians come from a crocolet.
>>2464301
birds evolved from a specific branch of the dinosaur subspecies you fucking idiot. That's not the same as dinosaurs in general.
>>2464434
>specific branch of the dinosaur subspecies
>subspecies
at least know your taxa before you call other people idiot
Do you not know what a subspecies is?
>>2464301
Literally everything alive now evolved from dinos, kid.

Uhhh anon?

"With the exception of some ectothermic species such as the leatherback sea turtle and crocodiles, no tetrapods weighing more than 25 kilograms (55 lb) survived."
from the wiki on the KT extinction
>>2464300
no animals above 100-200kg survived the extinction so the only dinosaurs that survived were avian/bird dinosaurs and crocs were small enough to survive too
were it not for a cataclysmic apocalypse dinosaurs would still rule today

Common ancestry =/= descended from
Nile crocodile or Utahraptor
who would win in a fight?
>>2464877
Raptor would jump on its back and claws it's neck. Croc has more HP and DEF but would struggle to get a bit on land.
What environment are they fighting in?
Saltwater would stand more of a chance I think.
>>2464873
explain
>>2464877
depend is it on land or water?
>>2464923
We have a common ancestor with dinosaurs. Which means we are descended from the thing dinosaurs are also descended from.
Thus we are not descended from dinosaurs because the common ancestor we share was not a dinosaur.
It was a reptile that was gaining adaptations that made it warm blooded. (Dinosaurs were inbetween warm and cold blooded).

Utahraptor has been dead for more than 65 million years, so nile crocodile wins by default.
