Not really, there are many places on earth that lack certain animals that once have been there. So it would just be a sort of "reintroduction" to an environment that humans took away from them.

Reintroducing predators is all fun and games until dogs go missing or a child is injured. The potential outrage will negate any attempt dude.

It's not about introducing alien species, you dumb fuck. No one wants to put a jaguar or zebra in the middle of NYC.
Bringing back extinct animals is a waste of time and money. I think it'd be cool, as does everyone else and I'm not against it but pitting that against helping the animals we have now then I'd choose the latter.
Even if we could bring back a mammoth, great. That's awesome. But unless we can somehow hybridize them with modern elephants, then what? Just keep cloning the same one(s) forever or let them inbreed to hell and back?
