This nonsense is on my 3 new apple trees that I planted this year. I've asked multiple horticulturalists and all they've been able to tell me is that its a fungus and I shouldnt be too worried about it. All the books and pictures ive looked in have things that look similiar but dont quite match up. The trees are young and really dont look good because of this, anyone able to tell me exactly what is going on?

Planted in central wisconsin btw

Its a fungus dont worry too much about it

I don't think it's fungal, it looks skeletonized from an insect.

Contact the county agriculture extension office. That's the only way to get the truth. I could look it up, but I gotta go to work

Looks like leaf scorch caused by improper water management. Really.
If there are no other syptoms of bacteria or fungal infections, the smart money is on transplant shock, poor installation and/or cultural practice.
Remember, you can lead a whorertoculture but you can't make her think.

This seemed the most likely to me. I planted them in early spring and it was pretty wet around that time even for spring so they looked great. But they are on a different property which is like 4 hours away so I couldnt water them like I know im supposed to. Do I need to worry about them since its pretty close to fall?

Nah mate, they'll drop their leaves soon enough and have a fresh start next year.

The first year is always the worst. Transplant shock can weaken a tree enough to let other nasties kill it. And Malus domestica (fruit tree apple) has a metric fuckton of natural enemies. I suggest that you wait until early next spring, after the threat of a hard frost has passed. Early to mid May for central Badgers. Fertilize around the planting hole (I am assuming there were balled and burlapped trees planted properly in a hole at least 1.5x ball diameter) If bare root, its the same program, only different.
Fertilize around the edge of the hole. Poke holes in the dirt with a shovel handle and pour in granular time release feet. Like osmocoat. No superKgrow. Water well. If you are really bent on doing it right, get a thimg called a TreeGator for each tree. It's a bag you put around the trunk, fill with water, and it drips into the soil slowly. Fill them up again when you can.
Transplant shock will kill a tree only if the tree is not cared for. I understand being away from the site, you can make it work. It may cost you some time and $$$.

This little guys are around 1 or 2 mm, they attack appletrees and make really similar marks in the leaves, they should be on the other side of the leaves thoug. Theay also leave lots of little black dots, those are their droppings.

well there are lots of little black dots but I didnt see any bugs on the trees at all
