Does your town have a dog park?
What features does it have?

Our dog park has a row of water dishes that auto fill when water gets below a certain point. There's a group of huskies that comes every other night that basically take over this area. They will:

>dig out all the water to watch the bowls refill
>stand in the bowls with front legs in one and back legs in the other
>stand in one bowl and drink out of the other
>cry until someone drains the dirty bowls so they can dig/drink again
>push other dogs away if they try to drink out of the clean bowls

Little cunts
>>
>saturday afternoon and good weather
>my dog and i are only ones in dog park which is inside a regular park
>family comes in with their dog
>they sit down at picnic table inside dog park
>pull out bags of fast food and start eating
>my dog keeps jumping on table trying to get their food
>i tell them food isn't allowed in the dog park and my dog is not going to leave them alone
>they give my dirty looks and move to a picnic table outside the dog park to eat
>leaving their dog inside the dog park

I like dog parks in theory but I always end up being there with shitty dog owners, so I avoid going to them now.
>stuck up fags with designer small breeds
>trashy people with poorly trained dogs
>they always want to talk to me about their dogs when I just want to chill and watch my dog play
Aside from my friends I really can't stand other dog owners for the most part.

From states where we had nice fenced in dog parks. Some of them had agility stuff and you had to pay to get in, but the facilities were super nice and had a bar so it was worth it.

Now, live in Europe. No traditional dog parks here (read: fences, rules) but there are big off-leash areas inside of massive parks here. My dog loves going and most of the owners here are pretty competent/have well behaved dogs. Only occasionally have we run into issues with someone's dog who's a resource guarder or dogs that pick little fights.

As a husky owner, I can relate to this.

My dog park doesn't have clean water unfortunately, just a creek for dogs to swim in. But if it's recently rained, my dog will dig in the puddles and chase other dogs away from them.

Like 90% of the other huskies that come to the park are assholes. They are always in groups of 2-3 and bully other dogs. My husky hates other dogs approaching her from behind, and these asshole dogs always circle behind her and nip at her back legs.

At least the owners are always apologetic. Now I just avoid going on days/times I know they'll be there.

>stories

Every dog park I've been to has a story about a pit or a mastiff that didn't play well with others.
>>
I used to love going to my dog park but it's been taken over by retarded old people and their neurotic "furbabies"

The dogs are always either inbred toy breeds with no socialisation skills, or terrier breeds that don't get enough exercise so they harrass other dogs.

I got sick of being abused by old cunts because their shitty dogs scream when another dog approaches or because my dog wouldn't tolerate the terrier mutt jumping up and biting his ears.

The annoying part is my dog park has a seperate fenced section for small dogs/elderly dogs that can't keep up with younger dogs. But these old cunts think they own the whole place.

>at park just last week
>American Bully
>muzzled
>kind of trots around, fixating on certain dogs to play
>fixates on corgi
>play
>suddenly snarling, knocking corgi on its back and trying to go for the throat
>can't because muzzle
>corgi owner runs up with a fucking airhorn
>BRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRTTTTTT

Safe to say that the fighting stopped quickly, but God damn.
>>

There are two things that piss me off at an off-lead area;

Muzzles and leashes.

A dog that feels cornered and/or can't defend itself is going to respond defensively, which can turn into a serious fight.

And a dog that needs to be muzzled should not be going to a area with free roaming dogs in any case.
>>

>which can turn into a serious fight.
Not that serious if the aggressor is wearing a muzzle, but I do see your point.
>>
>>2461790

I agree. Every time I see a dog that is stuck on a lead they almost invariably have a freak out moment, which seems to justify to the owner why they thought it was a good idea in the first place. I just don't really appreciate people working on severe dog aggression issues at a dog park.

Another thing I fucking hate is when people bring their kids to play in the dog park.

>lady brings her small terrier mix
>also brings twin sons ~7 years old
>let's both dog and children loose
>iPhone comes out
>all dogs engaging in good play and wrestling
>kids run up to get in the middle of everything to pet and play
>dogs try their best to ignore them
>one boy picks up a rock and I can see what he's thinking on his shitty little face
>"DON'T THROW ROCKS AT THE DOGS"
>mom looks up finally
>one kid holding a rock
>other is trying to push himself between wrestling dogs
>gathers the kids up but she is now aware that everyone is giving her the stink eye
>leaves quickly

It's not a children's playground. The dogs are there to play with each other or with their owners, not your kids. Sometimes people let their kids bring in bicycles or scooters as well, which drives some of the dogs ape shit. The tragic part is that the people who think this kind of shit is okay are also the ones who will sue when their child gets bitten.

Train your dog.

In the dog park his dog can do what it wants, people should fuck off with food
>>

I dont frequent dog parks due to my dogs breed, he wont wont tolerate other dogs fighting or if the group of dogs level of excitement is getting to high he will enforce a calmer dynamic. This can manifest itself in anything as mild as a stare down and as extreme as a grab the scruff of the neck and drag the dog that tried to dominate him around like a rag doll.

Ive seen a rottweiler bite somebody with a baskerville muzzle on like it wasnt there, just something to be aware of.
>>
My local dog park is lovely. My favorite feature is the convenience of being able to get robbed while only being there for half an hour

>visit dog park
>no one is usually there
>it's fenced in with two separate areas(big/little dogs)
>there is a woodsy trail next to it and water fountains/showerheads
>have only seen 2 people near it
>one was a couple who took their weinerdog out to poop in front of the park then left(without picking it up mind you)
>other brought 2 standard poodles

>tfw no one for my pupper to play with
>tfw run with him chasing me because I want him to get some exercise and he isn't into fetch when at the park
>fear someone will see me running with my little dog and laugh at me
>>
>>2462547
Not much of a muzzle then was it?
As a matter of fact you could say it was a complete and total failure of its only intended purpose.
>>
>>2462614

Never be embarrassed for making your dog happy. My dog loves to be chased but he's not very fast or steady on his feet. The fast dogs get bored of him and play with other dogs. There have been moments where he thinks he has someone to play chase with but they break off halfway through while he keeps running. He'll run halfway across the park before he realized anything and just stand there all alone. It breaks my god damn heart sometimes, so when he invites me to chase I always, ALWAYS play.

I avoid dog parks like the plague. They are a magnet for clueless people with untrained animals needing a place for their incorrigible canines to run unchecked. I have a friend who fosters dogs for an assistance animal training program similar to leader dogs for the blind. He goes to the dog park occasionally, and leaves when dogs show up.
