Look at this majestic beast.
>>2460619

>>2460619
Sure they look majestic when you don't look at them straight on

Goldcrests have always been my favourite bird. When I was a little kid i drew/wrote comics called 'Bird Boogy' about a goldcrest called Crest who solved mysteries (bird mysteries)

>>2460770
It's a capercaillie. Male capercaillies are famous for being really fucking angry and attacking pretty much anything during their breeding season. There are a bunch of videos and stories of them attacking people and cars.
>>2460762
If you still have those comics, I'm interested in reading about these "bird mysteries".

Alright, best bird coming through.
Holy shit is it ever hard to find good photos of these guys though. People photograph them like fucking retards.
I'm rather fond of these little guys.
My property becomes a bird nursery every spring and summer. I get barn swallows nesting under the eave of my front door, and mockin' birds feeding their fledged babies in the back yard.

>>2462840
>One of the best birbs.
Agree.
>>2463178
>Probably a peregrine falcon?
Yup.
Great birds.
Unlike most other raptors, falcons usually kill their prey before they start digging in and eating them, and they've actually developed a special notch on their beaks designed to help them break the necks of their prey. Most hawks and eagles don't bother, however, and just start ripping flesh as soon as they have prey subdued in their talons, eating their prey while it's still alive, like major assholes.
>>2463299
>buying owls
>when they're available for free outside
>>2460533
All of them.
Except pigeons.
Fuck those guys.
Goddamned feathered rats is what they are.
>>2463308
By the time the prey's subdued it's usually dead, at least for eagles. Those fuckers hit like a ton of bricks and generally break the neck / spine with their talons on impact.
>>2460619
Harpies are based, the zoo I work at has one. Apparently an opossum got into the exhibit one time, at which point the harpy slaughtered it and presented it to her keepers as a gift. Adorable.
>>2461667
>>2463416
Building onto this, I'm surprised no one has said the bearded vulture yet. They're pretty neat birds.
>>2463419
Vultures are pretty cool in general. Always annoyed how most media just shows them all as looking exactly the same.
>>2462840
Wait, that looks nothing like the barn swallows I've seen. Are those from America?
>>2463548
This is a proud US of A barn swallow
>>2460533
Kakapos are my favourite.
>>2463548
He's not talking about the picture in the post he's replying to. He's talking about how the post also mentioned nesting barn swallows.
>>2463548
That pic is a northern mockingbird in "big scary bird" mode because he see's his reflection in the glass.
