What is this bug? First time I've ever seen one and it almost seemed like it was showing off. Can anyone identify?

pine sawyer beetles will bite but are not particularly eager to do so. adult cicadas are not capable of biting and the larvae live underground

In my country that's called a cicada.
Harmless but very loud on a hot summer day when a few thousand of them are buzzing away.
They also leave their old shells everywhere

Considering they're absolutely everywhere in the late summer and you've only ever seen this one, no.

You've most definitely heard them before though:

There's a thread like this everyday. How have so many people never seen a cicada?
>>
>>2461224
Sheltered and ignorant cityfolk who have never set foot into nature and only know animals from overblown "documentaries" that portray everything as a venomous killing machine.
