Because the breed standard calls for the face. Also breeders are incredibly obsessed with pedigree.

An even more extreme example of this is deafness in Dalmatians. About 70% of Dalmatians are affected by hearing problems. This is due to a specific mutation many purebred Dalmatians have. There've been effords to breed in other hounds, test for the mutation. After several generations of breeding with purebred Dalmations they are pretty much indistinguishible but not predisposed to deafnes. Yet breeders won't accept them.

Anyone who breeds for show or pedigree breeds inbreds.

Look for the people who actually work their dogs. The people who raise dogs for their intended purposes. they'll have healthy whelps.

Also do your research before you settle on your new doggo. Huskies are getting a new dosage of inbred mutts in their genepool thanks to Game of Thrones and stupid pet owners.

These guys are right. Most breeders are aiming for appearance and will often neglect health. Dogs bred for work have to be healthy to fulfill their functions. It's so much better for the animals.

If you must buy a purebred, try to find working dogs or you're giving your money to some real assholes. Better yet, adopt a mutt. But you knew I was gonna add that last part.
