So, it turns out they're seemingly as intelligent as primates:

Humans do similarly idiotic things and yet we're unquestionably intelligent by the traditional metric.
The same for chimps, or any other intelligent species for that matter.

Intelligence is extremely difficult to truly quantify because it's not a singular aspect

To give a human example, Ben Carson is probably one of the most talented neurosurgeons in the world, but also he thinks going to prison turns you gay.

You could have animals with highly developed problem solving skills but fall short in other fields, or animals that demonstrate a clear sense of cognizance and self awareness but can't figure out things like shapes

Bees have been proven to have a concept of zero, but whens the last time you saw a bee make a tool
>>
>>2451358
Wasn't that a female hyena eating the placenta after she had a litter?

In which case it makes perfect sense for her to eat the placenta. Hell, the goats my family used to raise would eat their own placenta. And goats are herbivores.
>>

>but whens the last time you saw a bee make a tool

Motherfucker, that's what an entire fucking hive is. It's dozens of dozens of perfectly octagon shaped storage containers/cribs/incubators. AKA "tools"

So yes, not only do they make tools all the god damn time, but they are smart enough to use their own wings to air condition the whole place.

> man-made "puzzle boxes.

Motherfuckers, don't forget how skewed against the hyena this is. It's likely they've never seen the shit, or anything like it before in their lives. Adults have problems opening child proof pill bottles that are "align the arrows" instead of "push and turn" like they've always been exposed to, at first.

Give a hyena a lifetime of experience with puzzles like those, and they'll likely breeze through them

>Okay, hyenas won't land robots on Mars anytime soon

We had to get to the point where we have fucking 7 billion of us alive to have the select few extreme outliers with the creativity and intelligence to allow just to send a rover to mars.

Ok fucking asshole, first of all, you should never get to the point of scabbing for most minor wounds. Keep that shit moist and don't let a scab form, and it'll heal like 4 times as fast. Vaseline, oil, an airtight bandage that doesn't have gauze to dry everything out, literally anything. Keep that shit MOIST like your moms pussyhole. It will HEAL like in the blink of an eye. Your body does this with a scab, kind of, if it's a big wound you should be able to rub a scab around and feel liquid under it, but it's not nearly as well as an airtight bandage to keep it from ever scabbing or gauze with vaseline to keep it lubed up.

tl;dr: KEEP THE JUICES FLOWING
>>
>>2453251
>Keep moist.
>don't use Vaseline and shit

That's just one of the reasons why you don't. Bacteria thrives in moist environments and by putting a tight covering over it is shit. There is no reason to keep it moist unless it's covering a large surface area such as burns because it tightens and make it painful to move.

>Source: tattoo and scarification artist going to med school
For scarification we suggest keeping it moist and wet, but also scrubbing the fuck out of it and hydrogen peroxide because the people who pay to get their skin carved up want the scars to show. Irritating it and/or irritating it slows healing.

If I get a cut I just wash it and I'm done(unless it's at work because I don't trust these dirty fucks). I know people heal differently but unless you're exposed to staph or the likes you will be completely fine. It's a scratch, who the fuck cares? Keep it clean, wash your goddamn hands and don't start rubbing it on doorknobs and dogshit.
>>
>>2453251
No, you fucking idiot.

The whole reason why our bodies create scabs is to A: block out physical debris. And B: to act as a crude set of stitches. When a scab dries up it shrinks, but it stays glued to the sides of the cut, so it is pulling the sides of the cut closed.

That's why all animals instinctively bite or scratch as scabs. Because the scab can only shrink so much. So once it is fully dried, we scrape it off, a new scab forms, it dries out, it finishes shrinking to close the wound further, then you scrape it off and start over.

Your method of healing is basically filling in the hole with a new layer of skin. Enjoy your ugly scar tissue.

You're dumb! You don't realize that 1. if you need stitches, GET FUCKING STITCHES! THEY WORK WAY BETTER THAN A SCAB! and 2. (TWO!!!) YOU PROTECT FROM DEBRIS WITH THE BANDAGE!!!

http://www.surgerysupplements.com/keep-wounds-moist-or-dry/

>A scab forms a barrier to the generation of new tissue. Studies have shown that under influence of scabbing the regenerative wound healing processes take more time, thus increase the risk on scarring.

>dermatologist Bruce Katz, M.D., associate clinical professor at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons.

>>2453256
>Bacteria thrives in moist environments
YOU fucking retard ... the scab is literally there as the best possible form the body can make... *ITSELF* to keep your wound moist... YOU NEED MOISTURE TO HEAL!!! YOU BELLEND there is reason your still IN SCHOOL ..... LOOOOL hydrogen peroxide? Sounds ilke a perfect way to kill your skin's natural bacterial flora ..... scrub the shit out of it?? LOL unless it needs debridement because of ACTUAL debreeze you are JUST CAUSING MORE DAMAGE !!!! BAKA MARICANS.

My god, you are a dumb ass.

>>2453283
Do you not realize that the whole point of scarification is to deliberately create ritualized scar tissue?

So if anything, you are proving that you do indeed need scabs. Because without them you will gain ugly scar tissue.

fucking retard... you didnt read that moist wound healing is faster?? your literally saying the opposite of an actual peer reviewed study.. you are so afraid to lose an 'online argument' with a guy typing luike a retard.. your makeing me cringe

>So if anything, you are proving that you do indeed need scabs
no the study says the opposite, a bandage acts as the scab, without allowing any drying of the wound. A scab is literally the bodies bandage, but it's ineffective because it's highly permeable by air and allows the wound to dry out too much...a bandage and wound intentionally kept moist heal faster.

http://www.wound-treatment.jp/english/index_e.htm

http://www.nature.com/nature/journal/v193/n4812/abs/193293a0.html

>When a wound heals with a moist wound bed, it heals quicker and with less pain and scarring.
Literally, best way to promote a moist wound is with a cover...

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC1420733/

>Occlusive dressings are thought to increase cell proliferation and activity by retaining an optimum level of wound exudate, which contains vital proteins and cytokines produced in response to injury. These facilitate autolytic debridement of the wound and promote healing. Concerns of increased risk of infection under occlusive dressings have not been substantiated in clinical trials.

Here read this even, it has citations and I'm not going to make bother picking them all out for you when I've already provided like 5 different ones

>>
>>2453350
also, you talk about ripping your scabs off as it's healing.. do you literally not know why that hurts? it's because the scab is bonded to your F L E S H and every time you peel it off it's ripping small amounts of flesh off with the scab

>In a moist environment, scabs are prevented, which inhibit the formation of new tissue. If wounds heal without scabs and the wound healing process remains undisturbed, the likelihood of scarring is decreased and results in improved cosmetic results.

There is a huge fucking difference between third degree burns, lacerations so deep you NEED to go to the emergency room, and a fucking paper cut that doesn't even require a band aid.

Obviously if we are in the emergency room we are going to do what the doctors say and apply a thousand dollar antibacterial and then keep the wound moist with another thousand dollar bandages after we are finished getting stitched up like a rag doll.

But in day to day life? Fuck all of that expensive shit. I am not wasting who knows how much money on keeping a fucking booboo moist just because HURRR DURRR SCAR TISHOOOOOOO!!!!!!!

Be a fucking grown adult instead of a juvenile twat, and let the cut scab over after smearing neosporin on it.

>There is a huge fucking difference between third degree burns, lacerations so deep you NEED to go to the emergency room, and a fucking paper cut that doesn't even require a band aid.

if it didn't even require a band aid then it didn't fucking scab over to any degree lol

There is more variance in wounds than
>SEVERE LIFE THREATENING
and
>Didn't notice this until I saw a tiny blood smudge on a white paper

>Be a fucking grown adult instead of a juvenile twat, and let the cut scab over after smearing neosporin on it.

As someone who's line of work involves regularly getting road rash over large parts of forearm and leg, (which mind you, isn't a severe thing even when it's down to the bone on an elbow) I'm gonna continue using moist wound healing and not using antibiotics or hydrogen peroxide (or any disinfectant for tha tmatter) and experience deep road rash healing completely in less than 10 days and no scars that are visible after 3 months.

You must be a masochist if you prefer to have an uncomfortable, dry scab for 20 some odd days instead of a supple, painless moist healing wound for 14 days.

>hurdur I'm so tough I deny modern medicine IMMA MAN!!

>I am not wasting who knows how much money on keeping a fucking booboo moist just because HURRR DURRR SCAR TISHOOOOOOO!!!!!!!

It costs literally $5.00 for a massive roll of gauze, enough to cover entire legs or arms, and about that much more for a tub of vaseline to keep the wounds moist

The worst wound you ever get is a papercut? Wow that's fucking excellent. You're SUCH a "grown adult"
