do we have any game warden/park ranger poster on /an/?
/out/ does
I post here every once in awhile
I could text my dad.
I used to ride with him but we mostly just picked up trash, yelled at kids and took naps since while it was a large park there really wasn't much to ranger. Helped tag some deer and that was cool.

I work as a ranger in north aus. Bats crocs roos are my problem. Crocs being the top priority especially in the cooler months.

what do you do with bats, crocs, roots? do you have higher education? what type?

Mainly help when people get attacked or threatened by them. I work with communities. Crocs have a big response with traps, harpoons. Bats have rabies, swarm in thousands in peoples properties and big kangaroos can sometimes attack children or the elderly. I fine little jimmy for shooting a native bird with an arrow too that sort of thing. I studied enviro management and it helped me get this job but its not required.

My dad mostly was taking calls and dealing with people. You'd probably want a ranger who works up north or Yellowstone for more interesting stories. I'm sure Reddit has a bunch of park ranger AMAs(only interesting thing about that site).
Since we don't have bears or cougars it wasn't the most interesting thing in the world. The times I went we mostly just made people put out illegal campfires, checked fishing licenses, took down illegal deer hunting stands from trees, corral drunk people and occasionally gave tours. My dad was fat at the time but he had calves of steel with all the walking. He had a vehicle but there was only so many roads. There was some other people on horseback and I heard they usually we're stationed around some endangered plants but I can't remember.
I'm sure if you look on whatever fish and game.gov site for your state(assuming you are the us) you can read what are the qualifications you need.
You're basically a cop for a park.
