Got a Rottweiler pupper

Any tips?
>>

every rotty i've known has been very loyal to their people but they need to be socialized to be good around other dogs and other people.

it's really important, i think any guide you'd read online would emphasise socializing a rottweiler. not to say they're monsters otherwise it's just that they're big and they're protective, you don't want to deal with that shit if they take against another person.
>>
>>2451035
Get 2 more puppys and socialize them every chance you get. Even if you're just running errands around town, bring them with you, but dont leave them alone for long periods of time, especially in vehicles.

>go and get 2 more!

The fuck is wrong with you?

No

Prepare for other people to be scared of your dog once he/she is no longer a tiny pup. Like >>2451044 said, socialization is VERY important. You'll want to get the puppy accustomed to sights, smells, people, and other dogs ASAP. Before the vaccinations are all in, don't let the puppy interact with any old dog. Have a friend with a fully vaccinated adult dog that you trust come over to play.

If it's a girl, be wary of SSA (same sex aggression) when she reaches late adolescence. It's not guaranteed but it can be common in many breeds (rotties, chows, shar pei, dobies, pits, and so on) and it's something to look out for.

They're a great breed IMO. I've never met one with a sour temperament. Every single Rottweiler I've ever met has been the biggest teddy bear because their owners trained and socialized them rigorously as pups.

I got and older (14 year old) girl dog who is fully vacced, female roties tend to be agressive with other female dogs? I had big and agressive dogs before, bit i have no experience with Rotweilers
>>

*i have

Pupper is 6 weeks old, when should i start training her and how? I read that Rots tend to be stubborn.

6 weeks? Not to be a dick, but a red flag. Puppies shouldn't be split from their moms until 8 weeks minimum.

Rottweilers are a breed that CAN be dog aggressive, but it's not guaranteed. You just need to work with the dog a lot to introduce it to different dogs. Having another dog companion from such a young age should help immensely.

OMG 2 WEEKS CALL PETA
>>
>>2451222
8 weeks is the minimum, 9 or above is preferable. You believe that 2 weeks doesn't make a difference because of ignorance, fact is most of the pack socialization skills taught by the bitch is at the end of the weening period.
>>

>Pupper is 6 weeks old
Take her back and come get her in 2-4 weeks.

You can start training her whenever. Take her out as much as you can, expose her to dogs, cats, children.... She must be up-to-date on her vaccines.

Rotts can be stubborn, but when engaged, they are excellent students and workers. You need to project calm confidence. Most Rottweilers are confident and natural-born leaders themselves, so you will need to make it clear that yours does not get to boss you around. Be consistent. They will take a yard if given an inch.

Good luck. Sorry you got a shitty backyard bred puppy.

Sorry

lol

All of our dogs were "shitty backyard bred" and all of them lived longer than 12 years without any illnes
>>
>>2451224
Considering how quickly their brains and bodies develop, two weeks is a significant period of time.
>>
>>2451035
As other anons said, socialize him. Also, be firm with him and be sure to punish him (obviously without hitting him), rottweiler need to know who's in charge.

Take that puppy out in public and to groomers from the time it's a teeny pup, if you take it to be bathed/groomed by strangers it'll be socialized to not freak out when you take it to the vet or have to board it. Also take it to the dog park as a tiny pupper, and to other dog-friendly events, but be really careful of other dogs so it doesn't get attacked or it could become dog-aggressive.

Big dogs need more training and socialization because it matters more if they're rude or mean.

Also be prepared, rottie puppies will absolutely destroy your house if you leave them there alone for too long, they get bored and will wreck the place.

Rottweilers are the best doggos once they're properly trained, and will be super loyal and lovable. Congrats!
