Rats are cool animals. Rodents in general are fucking awesome and they're the most widespread and diverse group of mammals there is. And they're cute. Unfortunately, they thrive off making problems for us so they've got a pretty bad rep. I love them, but I do wish they would find a food source that doesn't involve stealing from my livestock. Thankfully though, i've got some pals indoors who (usually) don't chew holes in everything I own.

The rats I had crawling around my home were pretty hardy, even after getting hit straight in the neck/cervical vertebrae with a Victor rat trap, they wouldn't die, and needing atleast a couple of rounds of copper BBs straight in the head to finally kill.

Whoever the fuck installed this AC units is to blame, they left huge holes into the walls under the AC units

oh man, that reminds me of a time when I was called to a feed supply business in regards to intermittant internet. Attached a device to their coax line & see a break between the building & the pole. Owners say they had mice and rats getting in by chewing thru the conduit at the pole & scurrying 180 ft in the u/g conduit and up into the building so they sealed one end with expanding foam, flooded the conduit, and then sealed the building end. Ew... wonderful. :-P

Chip the foam away and start hauling back to the pole. Start to see the coax is chewed thru in places. Argh! Ho-lee-fuck! A big mass of dead rodents comes out.... basically a big blob. And the smell!! fuck. me. I was gagging. Replaced coax & had a wonderful 45 min drive back with the stinking mess in the back of my van, windows rolled down, to the recycle bin. Had to throw out work gloves too.

I've always found rats cute, but they're the pitbulls of the rodent family.

My dad used to breed rats to feed to his snake. regular pet store rats and one of them flipped the fuck out and ate the other rate. Then when my dad was trying to get rid of it the rat jumped out, screamed, and lunged at him.
We named him Templeton.

Then my mom had two rats as pets named mr and mrs ratty rat and they lived a nice peaceful life together.
They'd even let us touch their babies and wouldn't eat them.

I just don't really know what to think about rats.
They're not physically cute enough for me to get over the canabalism.
