can non-self-reliant 12yo girl take properly care of leopard gecko/s?
If she's non-self-reliant , doesn't that just mean you're the one who needs to make sure you can take care of it?
A 12 year old is certainly capable of it, whether they will depends on the 12 year old and who is buying the supplies for it and would they be prepared if said 12 year old is no longer caring for it properly. 12 year olds aren't toddlers. They know what's right from wrong, and they can understand what happens to it if they don't take care of it.
If it's a gift, don't do it. I don't trust many adults with pets, let alone children and if no one else who can care for it or correct them then don't bother.

it is not a gift, i am moving to another city and it would be hard to take terrariums with geckos with me so i thought i could leave geckos in my parent's house and they and my stepsister could take care of them
but on the other hand i would rather sell them since neither my parents nor my stepsister are reptile enthusiasts

I've seen a girl that couldn't have been over ten in Petco by herself. She was buying crickets. Some kids are more mature than others. I could barely make eye contact with strangers until high school.
