Looks like a british shorthair, and definitely not your common Domestic shorthair. If it isn't a BSH, then it has some kind of deformity/inbreeding going on. Very peculiar face structure.

Bit young to be away from mom, but feeding soft/wed food should be fine. Friskies poultry diet would be a good start or a nice kitten food. 7-9 weeks is when they teach eachother not to bite/scratch so you are going to have a time of it..

Fantastic kitten though. Please give us pictures of progress! That face structure is marvelous. Some of the most famous internet cats are BSH.
