Help!!! My dog has gone into heat. I don't think it is a uti she hasn't shown any symptoms of having a uti. I thing or possibly sure she is in heat, but how do I deal with a dog in heat. Of course we are going to fix her soon she's a rescue, and was not able to fix her right away because of heart worms. But do not worry we will fix her soon. I'm a little freaked out I've only had cats frowning up so do not know how to handle a dog in heat any advice or tips would be very helpful. Thank you.

Or on her period. Her vulva is swollen and a little red around a certain part and she's bleeding.
What do I do???
Is there a different way I need to care for her?

Not to my knowledge but do not let her out of the house unless directly supervised and under control, even in a fenced in backyard. Intact males will straight up eat through solid doors and fences to get to bitches in heat
Thank you for letting me know I had no idea. Rarely do i let her in the front yard in a leash and in my sight, but of course we do let her roan the backyard. Thank you very much.
Also make sure to keep her well hydrated. I think I've heard that's a problem for them during this time
Oh yea, we always have water out for her. I noticed she has been drinking a lot of water which explains why she has needed to urinate much more than usual. Thank you I'll definitely make sure there are a lot more water bowls around the house so she does not become dehydrated.
