Pholcus phalangioides
Location?
They're invasive here. Only around because they can spend the winter in people's houses. I fucking hate them. All they're good for is shitting their disorganised webs all over my white walls. I hate them so Goddamn much.

On the plus side for normies, they seem to outcompete and kill widow populations. I was sad to see all the thicc Latrodectus hesperus females disappear from my yard one year to be replaced by assloads of P. phalangioides. Never really recovered when I lived in that house. Used to have 30+ females in a 30'x15' area, and I'd only see a couple every year after that.
These things are spiders? I've heard people call them daddy long legs my whole life.

They will kill literally anything they can get their spindly little Jew legs on even though they look like useless goofy lanklets. Cellar spiders are ruthless efficient mass murderers, harmless to people, and don't wander around. I don't know why you wouldn't want them.

I came in this thread to post this. In the countryside where my parents live there are so many fucking flies everywhere that we don't even think to kill these guys. So we let them hang out. They don't do any harm.

Regional common name shit. There are two daddy long legs. The entire order of Opiliones and the Pholcus genus. Pholcus species are just spiders. Inconsequentially venomous. Opiliones are a different order of non-venomous arachnids also called harvestmen by patricians.

Except Harvestman is also used for Crane Flies so it's not partrician at all.

I've never heard anyone call a crane fly a harvestman but some people do call crane flies daddy long-legs as well in the UK which makes the term even more fucking retarded.

this is what I know of as Daddy Long Legs and i'm from new jersey

Those are all over here on the west coast of Canada eh. Very common. I see them mostly eating other spiders.

Literally never heard anyone call crane flies harvestmen. That's some next level blind retard shit if true. Harvestmen is the oldest common name for Opilionids. Anything else called by the same name is misattributed.
One of those fuckers killed my beautiful Nephila. Fuck them.

Do they eat silverfish and where can I get some?
