A sudden realisation that mankind is slowly destroying the perfection that is the natural world, and that it's beauty is now confined to a small set of government regulated spaces that just happened to not be pillaged by the time we became self aware of our planet's destruction.
And mosquitos.

The god awful smell of sulfur.

General management incompetence, brucellosis, literally mange-infested wolves and rancher influence.

You're not from the area if you honestly feel that way. Step out of the bubble of your city and take a look at the big wide natural world out there.
Idiots that don't animals that can kill them....like bears and bison and shit.
Remember, just because you see an idiot do something, doesn't mean it's the right thing to do.

I'm from the countryside and I've been at least 10 different natural parks. Most of the 'countryside' left is just farmland which is complete shit (basically plant factories). When you look at the land covered by nature reserves and protected areas and compare it to the space used in urban development and agriculture you realise how little space is actually reserved to be wild.

Buffalo (frigging everywhere), elk, deer, grizzly bears (hopefully not while hiking), Clark's nuthatches (corvid birbs who may try to steal your lunch), and a shitload of chipmunks.

Idaho (I know the park is in Wyoming but ID's right next door) is in the Pacific Northwest according to some authorities.
