Ok, uniform lack of ANY hair, salamander flattened face NO facial bone structure, digging front feet and mammalian back legs with a short pig like tail. Everyone in the neighborhood in East Moriches, NY Long Island. We are where TWA blew up, near Brookhaven Lab, Plum Island Animal Testing, and submarine bases and...we can't figure it out. It was washed near a creeks mouth very heavy and VERY thick muck nearly 30 feet down. Decomposition hadn't even started when I found it. It's creeped me and dozens ever since because what the hell? I'm guessing it's an elaborate prank or prairie dog, but near the bay through swamp? No facial bones?...look and idk figure it out cause idk.

Bullshit. That thing has teeth. Maybe it's a gopher

>Ok, uniform lack of ANY hair
That's how most dead mammals look after two or more days in the water.
>Decomposition hadn't even started when I found it.
Looks like it took you way too many days to even found a single phone to take a photo.

A bloated rodent but it's not a rat or mouse. How big is it?

My vote goes to bog lemming or vole assuming that's an intact tail. Pic related, bog lemming. It all matches up. The face, limbs, tail, head and back arch.
