I always offer my cat some whiskey or gin, what ever I am drinking. She will give it a sniff, get all scrunchy faced, and look at me with contempt.

The sheep/llamas prefer straight rum but I've had a hard time catching them in the act. I've had a llama drain a coffee cup of rum then she gets mad and starts spitting on all the sheep and the other llama. It's pretty amusing.

When I was real young my dad had a bunch of his marines over for a BBQ. They gave margaritas to our dog till it was a drunken fool. Poor guy was a good time till he decided to run head long into our fence.

May as well be. I don't think there is a very large demographic of alcoholic animals. But I did grow up in rural WA. Everyone has dogs and everyone has parties with gallons and gallons of cheap beer. The two always mix. Stumbling happy pooches are just fine.

This is my buddy's cat. It lives a life of sobriety though.

Its interesting that you're in WA cause I'm VA. Maybe states ending with A have more fun?

Also I'm a pre-vet and the vet I shadow laments that people take such good care of their animals now. Says it makes the job really boring because pretty much all you do is treat ancer, allergies, and spay/neuter. Not a lot of trauma surgery these days which is of course great for the animals but as a profession it gets dull.

How many animals do you have on your property?

My mom and her boyfriend live on a small ranch set up out of town. Cats all over the place, a few dogs, five or six chickens which are great. They get to spend all day roaming the yard eating whatever. Little shits are smart too, they never leave the property and scurry into their pen on their own at dusk. Every once and a while they will take some horses and bull black angus from neighbors.

I'm trapped in HI now. Not much wildlife but lots and lots of drunken homeless people. They may as well be animals.

Another friend's cat. He screams if you try to pet him. Every chance I get I offer him whiskey but his owner throws a fucking fit about it.

Can't drink around my friends pet pigs since they throw a tantrum when they can't have any.

I'm back on the family farm for the summer. We have ~40 Icelandic sheep of which 4 are breeding rams. 2 Llamas, 2 geese, 14 chickens, 30 nigerian dwarf goats, 3 dogs (2 german shepherds, 1 cavalier king charles spaniel), 7 cats (5 outdoor/barn cat, 2 indoor), and 2 mini horses.

We sell sheep meat/wool and we sell the goats as pets/breeding stock plus my dad has a real job. When we get to around 50 female goats we're going to start making cheese. All this is on 31 acres, 9 acres fenced in with animals, the rest is wild or for hay cutting.

Eventually I'm going to get my shit together and buy my own place back in WA. Get a couple dogs, a couple cats, and some alpacas. I hear they fend off coyotes.

The alpacas will fend of coyotes. That's why we run llamas with out sheep.

Knock on wood its been 3 years and we haven't lost one to predators yet.

Oh and if you get goats/sheep/alpacas/llamas try hitting all the Halloween pumpkin stands a day or two after Halloween and asking for free pumpkins for animal feed. Most are thrilled to have you haul all the unsold pumpkins away for free. Last year we got 10 tens worth and it basically fed our sheep and goats through the winter plus its really healthy for ruminants. Their stools will be fairly loose though...

That's some good advice, and some good stats on keeping predators away. I hate coyotes so god damn much. Noisy little shits will get right up in your hard and howl away. Sounds like demons are being summoned. Last picture of my cat before I venture out to find some food.
