Bed bugs need to be exposed to temperatures of around 45°C for approximately 1 to 2 hours to be killed or >50°C for much quicker results. Note that bed bug eggs are far more hardy than the bed bugs themselves as well though. In woodland forested areas such as the one shown above where the bedbugs were deposited it is extremely unlikely such temperatures would be reached and on top of that woodland offers plenty of crevices and access to moist soil for bed bugs to find an area to receive respite if the environment was being cruel to them.

The best way and most likely way for bedbugs to be killed by temperature is by lowering to <0°C and maintaining the temperature for approximately 4 days. I'm not going to say he's given an outright infestation to an otherwise potential untouched environment but he has willfully introduced a risk.
The most likely route for any of those bed bugs to survive is that they "Hitchhike" through victims until eventually ending up back in an urban area but then Anon is also responsible for that.

I had them a few years back, and the psychlogical toll they take on you is amazing. You almost just learn to live with them. I had a sectional couch that they lived in, and after awhile I put a blanket over the couch. That's all. It made no difference at all, but it made me feel better.

They were brought into my apartment building by a social worker for a disabled man. They had found a mattress in a dumpster and thought it was a good idea to bring it to him so he can have a new bed. The entire building was infested in no time.

I lost almost all of my stuff because of bedbugs. They got in my cd and DVD cases, behind picture frames, clothes, everything. When I moved, I kept the majority of my clothes in garbages bags because I couldn't go through another infestation.

Bedbugs suck so bad. I wouldn't wish that on anyone.

Flush the ones in your jar down the toilet, buy a steamer and steam all of your furniture in the room(s) where the bedbugs are. Do this every two weeks until you can guarantee they have all been killed because that's how long it takes for the eggs to hatch.
