Wow a seal that lives in a lake pretty cool
>>2401885
Same for Baikal Seal. They're only in Lake Baikal in Russia. Pretty sure they're the only freshwater seal.

Leopard seals are so cool to me. I don't know why. They're like polar bear level cool but somehow even cooler to me. They really do look like a some kind of aquatic big cat, lying around and chilling all day and looking cute or harmless before diving into the water and hunting viciously and effectively. Arctic predators amaze me. Such a harsh and sparse environment.
Ribbon seals are just gorgeous.

Looks like a fake pokemon.
I've always wanted to see a walrus in real life but none of the zoos I've ever been to had one.
>>2402075
I agree. I think part of it has to do with the fact that a lot of species of seals seem completely harmless and just generally cute/fuzzy, then you have this beast of the sea which is one of the greatest hunters in the arctic besides whales. Plus they look gorgeous too, and def have that feline aspect to them.
>tldr: Leopard seals are top notch

Why do we live just to suffer?
>EAT THE FUCKING PENGUIN!
>WHY WON'T YOU EAT!
>EAT IT!

Their intelligence is amazing too. Most seals are indeed derps and just kind of stare at people when they encounter them in the wild, or just swim away. There has been one confirmed death of a human by a leopard seal killing them, but more interesting is this case of the diver photographer who was "fed" penguins by a wild leopard seal who seemed to think he needed help hunting. This suggests the leopard seal is not only confident in its ability to secure food for itself in a scare environment but is willing to share it, for whatever reason that may be. The seal surely didn't mistake the diver for another leopard seal.

Do you think the seal was upset the human didn't want to partake in his cultural cuisine? I feel kind of bad for the pup :(
>people use to club these to death for fun

The story behind those photos makes me sad.
>Be world-renowned photographer
>Work for National Geographic
>Get sent to do a story about Antarctica
>Dive beneath the ice for photos every day for a week
>Leopard Seal sneaks up behind you on second day
>Almost panic, but seal is just curious
>Go in next day, seal there again, follows you around
>Seal there every day afterward
>Seal starts bringing you dead penguins and trying to make you eat them
>Plays with one of your cameras by testing it with its mouth
>Another Leopard Seal sneaks up behind you
>Friendo Seal attacks second seal, scares it off, then escorts you back to the surface
>Leave Antarctica, never see friendo seal again
>>2402567
>>Leave Antarctica, never see friendo seal again
Let's be real here. That photographer 100% went back, ate a bunch of dead penguins, and banged the fuck out of that seal.
Itt fat water dogs

That one looks like a digimon
>>2402288
awe how cute i want a leopard seal to have a crush on me and bring me penguins
Did someone say pinnipeds?
>>2402098
>feline aspect to them
No they don't. They're Caniformia, related to Bears, Raccoons, Mustelids and Dogs. Not fucking cats.
>>2403088
Aspect doesn't mean related you fucktard. Playtypus aren't related to fucking ducks but they still have some duck aspects (I'll spell it out for you since you're obviously dim as fuck, the fucking beak, you loose pile of afterbirth).
>>2403259
Except there is no feline aspect at all because they have no felid characteristics, behaviours, relations or morphology. Dumbass
>>2403376
Not him but being a member of carnivora they do, inded, share a few characters with felids. And while it may be more closely related to the rest of caniformia, it's role in its community is much more akin to that of a solitary large cat.
So kindly shut the fuck up, dweeb.
>>2403376
What he meant is that they act and look similar to cats, even if they're closer related to dogs. Just like my parents' mini schnauzer occasionally acts more like a cat than a dog, heh.

I agree. It has so much fucking mass and tiny flippers. Then again whales are massive and also have tiny flippers, but they are more aerodynamic and have larger flukes.
