Did the anubian jackal ever really exist? If so, are muslims the reason why we don't see them around anymore?

Im a historian, egyptologist, and zoologist. I suspect anubis was never meant to be a representation of a jackal, but rather a breed of dog that was common in the regions at the time. Jackals dont even have those body proportions like in the statues
>>
>>2400163
I know it wasn't really a jackal, but was there a black dog that had those proportions at that time, and what happened to it?
>>

>>
>>2400174
They probably weren't black. Black obsidian is just a sacred color and or common medium for their statues. Like marble in Rome and greece

You sound like an interesting person, and probably have many enjoyable conversations because of your range of knowledge.

He was probably being sincere but what do I know. If you are that guy I think it's cool you are into history and animals and I'm being serious. Learning how people of the past thought about and understood wildlife is a cool combo.

Xolos are so cool but their genetic situation is a mess.
The homozygous version of the mutation is fatal, there's a chance of them having fur, and their weight range is like 10-50 pounds.

Graduated from your ass.

There have never been jackles in Egypt. They're African wolves. The mummified animal remains in Lycanopolis, the center of the Anubis/Anpu cult are of African wolves.

A golden jackal looks totally differently then the breed of dog depicted in these statues.
