ITT we post animals that are on 'death row'. In other words, animals whose days are numbered and will be euthanized in the coming days. If you have an animal in a shelter, post pics of the animal along with the shelter name or a link please. Other shelter animals that are not in danger of euthanasia are also welcome.

If you don't like the thread, remember there's a 'hide' option.

All these guys are coming from this shelter

But the site I'm pulling these dogs from specifically are coming from here

I'm sure it deserves it, tbqh.

All of these guys are likely already dead or in the process of dying, whoopsies. Generally the list is posted at 6pm EST the night before euthanasia. The dogs are then destroyed anytime between 12:30 and 6pm EST the next day.

This is the list for 6/5/2017 for dogs. The only one that can't be adopted by public and has to go to rescue is the yorkie for severe aggression. He was unable to be handled and the assessment was omitted because of it.

Surprisingly much fewer cats

There's only two cats publicly adoptable, the orange tabby and the black and white cat on the top right. The rest are rescue only ranging from medical issues to moderate behavioral issues (over-stimulation from petting)

This guy is from Devore Shelter in San Bernardino, CA. He has until the end of the day today, and will be put on the euthanasia list for tomorrow (6/6). He is rescue only due to behavior.

New TBD list for the NYC ACC. These guys are set to be put to sleep on 6/6 between the hours of 12:30 to 6pm EST. Contact link in OP for more infor.

>>
Once upon a time an anon actually pulled a dog out of the ACC shelter and saved it. I remember following the saga, it was a close call. Honestly I think the thing that gets people the most is why these dogs are surrendered, usually just for moving. Too bad most of these dogs don't have a history.
>>
Alternatives to euthanisation I could imagine:

1) Give the dogs to research labs for animal testing that could help advance science and help save pet lives in the future.

2) Give to zoos for live feeding to large carnivores (that would be fed other ‘non-cute’ animals either way)

3) Make purchasable for live feeding to large snake owners (snakes that would be fed other ‘non-cute’ animals either way)

4) Make purchasable at a discount to ethnic groups who have traditions of consuming dog and cat meat. Profit helps fund shelter and ethnic group gets to celebrate their dietary customs without harming dogs that people sell for the intention of pet ownership.

Comments welcome, but don't let your empathy get in the way of practically.
>>
>>2399877
1) won't work as the majority of these dogs are Ill or have issues being handled. Even if they were fine with normal handling, they would need to be good with a ton of handling.
There's a reason they have a special line of beagles bred just for this. There's also the unknown genetics that may be a variable for testing.

2 + 3 live feeding for small animals is dumb, live feeding large carnivores to even bigger carnivores is pants on head retarded. The last thing a zoo would want to do is make their very dangerous and wild animals have to be consistently checked by a vet for scratches, bites, lacerations, disease, pests and parasites.

4) they get their animals off the street for free, so we can't sell them. Same goes to chinks and shit. They take stray dogs off the street so it costs literally nothing and they aren't running out of it.

Either way these animals would have to die, but maybe instead of euthanasia we can do like with the horses and send them to slaughter. Only issue is it would be much more work for food that will probably only go to subhumans. So really it's just costing more money for nothing.
>>
I dont understand the concept.

Since an animal is created by irresponsible people, it now must be kept alive as long as possible?

China has the right idea regarding excess animals

Scheduled 6/6. Name is Sasha, female, 7 years old, . She was a gift from a family member, and her current owner has to surrender because she lives in a BSL area. This one actually has a name. Peaches is female, 48lbs, estimated 3 years old. She came in as a stray and was named Peaches by some random little boy who walked by and asked if he could name her. It says she was brought in as a 'litter' so I am assuming she is the mother of said litter. I couldn't find any other dog with her group number, so the rest of her litter is either not at the shelter or not yet available.

Why are we allowing people to adopt those ticking timebombs again?

What are you talking about? Most of the behavioral issues ITT are not bully looking dogs, and that's saying a lot considering most of the dogs are bully looking ones.

>type of dog with the worst stigma on the planet
>people still can't wrap their heads around it
How dumb is /an/? This is like teen levels of retardation, and it seems like no one can understand population effect. It's like saying whites commit more crimes than blacks when whites make up 60% and blacks make up 16% of US population.
>>
>>2401386
Blacks still commit more crime, even with the population gap lol.

I get what your saying though.

>>2399973
You just have to deal feeling sad, these fuckers actually have to die.

Convert your sadness into motivation to help. Animal shelters are usually pretty fun to volunteer at. More hours=less need for employees=money saved=more animals housed.
>>
>>2399413
>most of them are mixed dogs

Is fucking Hitler managing those shelters?
>>
>>2401524
Actually whites do commit more crime than blacks, but only when you add in 'hispanic whites' which includes a fuck ton of gang bangers. Which is now considered the new 'white' nowadays. But yeah I get the analogy.

NYC ACC, NY for 6/9.

Top to bottom, left to right; numbers 5, 7, 8, 9 and 11 are all rescue only. Everyone else is publically adoptable.

Why is the cat one so fucking small?

NYC ACC, NY for 6/9

The black cat, black & white, and all gray cat are rescue only. Everyone else is publicly adoptable
>>
The problem with this thread is it's assumed that people on /an/ are actually old enough to adopt.
>>
>>2402777
>9 pitbulls

Huge shocker.
>>
>>2403491
Average is 25-28 years by my 6 years of observations. But adoption is a fucking invasive process with no bites because no one wants to have to label their model of fucking refrigerator to adopt a dog that they will tie up in their backyard and forget.
>>
>>2403500
>have new pupper dumped on us
>take him out daily for walks
>hear and see the same backyard dogs bark their head off at us almost every other house

Why would someone do that to themselves?
>muh protection
Buy a fucking gun
>muh it's nature
Nothing finer in nature than the tiny plot of land the lone, wild wolf hunts in
I hope every time we walk early, the dog wakes up their shit owners. Given the body language, it looks like most just want attention. Some look aggressive, mostly dogs of peace and a German Shepard.

Were you drunk when you posted this?

Yes dude, why what did I do wrong?
I only had 120oz of 7% beer this morning. I didn't do anything wrong. Why do you know I'm a drunk?

Poorly structured sentence

Its a wonder why people who work at shelters dont commit sudoku from the sheer grief of all these poor animals plights.

Shelter worker here. It is very sad, but it's much, much easier to do with a dog that you barely know. Even if it's a puppy, if I only worked with it for a few hours it's easier than the adult dog with issues that I've worked with for months. When I first started I was pretty much trained to think that it wasn't 'me' killing the animals but 'them', whoever 'they' happened to be. Sometimes it's corporate, sometimes it's the previous owners, sometimes you just lay it on society as a whole because you don't know anything about the dog to blame it on something else. It's a lot easier when you can shift the guilt to someone else. At the end of the day, that is your job and if you didn't do it, it doesn't mean the dog gets to live. It just means someone else will do it for you.

Pic related, a dog that was euthanized for silly reasons that ultimately I blamed on corporate.

They made up for their lack of dogs with an excess of cats. Also there is no reason for the entire picture to be this fucking small.

WHY ARE THEY GOING TO KILL KITTENS
>>
>>2406552
No mother, happens very often. If they are brought in without a mom and they can't find anyone to foster the babies (which is hard work for newborns), they are generally euthanized before closing since they won't likely last a night without feeding and being kept warm. It's actually the more humane thing to do.
