ITT we post animals that are on 'death row'. In other words, animals whose days are numbered and will be euthanized in the coming days. If you have an animal in a shelter, post pics of the animal along with the shelter name or a link please. Other shelter animals that are not in danger of euthanasia are also welcome.
If you don't like the thread, remember there's a 'hide' option.
All these guys are coming from this shelter
>http://www.nycacc.org
But the site I'm pulling these dogs from specifically are coming from here

>shitbull
I'm sure it deserves it, tbqh.
All of these guys are likely already dead or in the process of dying, whoopsies. Generally the list is posted at 6pm EST the night before euthanasia. The dogs are then destroyed anytime between 12:30 and 6pm EST the next day.
This is the list for 6/5/2017 for dogs. The only one that can't be adopted by public and has to go to rescue is the yorkie for severe aggression. He was unable to be handled and the assessment was omitted because of it.
Surprisingly much fewer cats
There's only two cats publicly adoptable, the orange tabby and the black and white cat on the top right. The rest are rescue only ranging from medical issues to moderate behavioral issues (over-stimulation from petting)
This guy is from Devore Shelter in San Bernardino, CA. He has until the end of the day today, and will be put on the euthanasia list for tomorrow (6/6). He is rescue only due to behavior.
Contact can be found here >http://wp.sbcounty.gov/dph/programs/acc/shelters/pet-adoptions/

Same place, will be PTS on 6/5. Can be adopted by anyone, but has possibly been hit by a car and adopters will need to sign a medical waiver.
>>2399434
Same shelter, will be PTS on 6/5. Rescue only for borking aggressively.
Why do you keep doing this to me Sarah? I can't save all the pets!
This is sad but lots of these dogs are pit mixes. We need to just stop making them exist already so we don't have to keep killing them
>>2399434
Same shelter, pts on 6/5. Rescue only due to growling
>>2399434
Same shelter, on list for 6/5. Adoptable by anyone, but has lacerations and adopters will need to sign medical waiver.
>>2399434

New TBD list for the NYC ACC. These guys are set to be put to sleep on 6/6 between the hours of 12:30 to 6pm EST. Contact link in OP for more infor.
From the top row, going left to right, #2, 3 and 4 are rescue only. The white shepherd, the gray scruffy thing, and the black and white scruffy thing all have behavioral issues. White shepherd has a bite history.
I feel like these pictures are ridiculously small.
This is the cat list for the NYC ACC. The only two that are publicly adoptable are the bottom two; the gray tiger with white socks and the dilute tortie
Once upon a time an anon actually pulled a dog out of the ACC shelter and saved it. I remember following the saga, it was a close call. Honestly I think the thing that gets people the most is why these dogs are surrendered, usually just for moving. Too bad most of these dogs don't have a history.
Alternatives to euthanisation I could imagine:
1) Give the dogs to research labs for animal testing that could help advance science and help save pet lives in the future.
2) Give to zoos for live feeding to large carnivores (that would be fed other ‘non-cute’ animals either way)
3) Make purchasable for live feeding to large snake owners (snakes that would be fed other ‘non-cute’ animals either way)
4) Make purchasable at a discount to ethnic groups who have traditions of consuming dog and cat meat. Profit helps fund shelter and ethnic group gets to celebrate their dietary customs without harming dogs that people sell for the intention of pet ownership.
Comments welcome, but don't let your empathy get in the way of practically.
>>2399877
1) won't work as the majority of these dogs are Ill or have issues being handled. Even if they were fine with normal handling, they would need to be good with a ton of handling.
There's a reason they have a special line of beagles bred just for this. There's also the unknown genetics that may be a variable for testing.
2 + 3 live feeding for small animals is dumb, live feeding large carnivores to even bigger carnivores is pants on head retarded. The last thing a zoo would want to do is make their very dangerous and wild animals have to be consistently checked by a vet for scratches, bites, lacerations, disease, pests and parasites.
4) they get their animals off the street for free, so we can't sell them. Same goes to chinks and shit. They take stray dogs off the street so it costs literally nothing and they aren't running out of it.
Either way these animals would have to die, but maybe instead of euthanasia we can do like with the horses and send them to slaughter. Only issue is it would be much more work for food that will probably only go to subhumans. So really it's just costing more money for nothing.
I dont understand the concept.
Since an animal is created by irresponsible people, it now must be kept alive as long as possible?
China has the right idea regarding excess animals
> uggggghuuuuu edgy edgy edgy edgy edgy
somewhere in India, someone is calling you edgy for eating beef
this thread is making me sad
Depressing thread. I have 5 dogs though I can only rescue to many. :(

Hawaii Island Humane Society, HI

This is a little weird, it's from the NYC ACC but I can't find her on the shelter website or the urgentpodr link, she's also not on the picture for today. So I decided I'd post her in case.
NYC ACC, NY
ID: A1110100
Scheduled 6/6. Name is Sasha, female, 7 years old, . She was a gift from a family member, and her current owner has to surrender because she lives in a BSL area. Her Owner is also expecting a baby and its becoming too much for her to handle her while pregnant. Sasha has some type of skin condition; she has had this since she was a puppy. Her most recent vet visit was around 4 years ago. She is good with strangers and lived with young kids. Fine for all handling, recommended no other dogs. She is high energy and excitable.
NYC ACC, NY
ID: A1113442
Scheduled 6/7. Name is Chico, 10 year old male. Is considered geriatric. Was surrendered because the family was having a new baby. Has a history of biting the family. Is very fearful and difficult to handle, unsure if he is publicly available or if he needs a rescue.
NYC ACC, NY
ID: A1112377
Scheduled 6/7. name is Remus, male, estimated 3 years old. Came in as a stray, finder said that Remus did fine with his dog the short time they were together. Finder did say that Remus did not seem to be house trained. Weighs 56lbs. They say he is very good on a leash and heels, but they did note this dog would need daily mental and physical stimulation.
NYC ACC, NY
ID: A1112676
Scheduled 6/8.
Lavina, Female, estimated 2 years old, 46lbs. She was lactating when she came into the shelter, but other than that her health is normal. She is rescue due to her baring teeth during the feet touch test. She was found as a stray.

ID: A1112801
Scheduled 6/8
Benji, male, 9 years old. Owner surrender due to moving. Has low grade heart murmur, severe erythema, stenosis of ear canals (mild pus present, painful, smelly). Some matted fur on belly. This one actually has a name. Peaches is female, 48lbs, estimated 3 years old. She came in as a stray and was named Peaches by some random little boy who walked by and asked if he could name her. It says she was brought in as a 'litter' so I am assuming she is the mother of said litter. I couldn't find any other dog with her group number, so the rest of her litter is either not at the shelter or not yet available.

Pretty positive this is the other dog in pic >>2399785
No name, male, 6 months old.
death comes for us all
The euthanasia list for ACC of NYC, NY for 6/7. From top to bottom, left to right; #4, 6, 13 and 15 are all rescue only. The rest seem to be publicly adoptable.
Euth list for ACC of NYC, NY. I feel like they must be giving up on the majority of really unadoptable cats here. They used to have like 20 a night. The only one that is rescue only is the gray tiger that looks like it's wearing a sweater
>>2399973
Not all of the dogs are killed, some are pulled
>all those shitbulls with no known history except "behavior issues"
Why are we allowing people to adopt those ticking timebombs again?
>>2399413
DEATH ROW
WHAT, WHAT A BROTHER KNOW
>>2400820
What are you talking about? Most of the behavioral issues ITT are not bully looking dogs, and that's saying a lot considering most of the dogs are bully looking ones.
>all of these pits
>>2399421
He was such an hero
>mostly pitbulls
Really activates the 'ol almonds.
>>2401041
>most popular dog type in America
>type of dog with the worst stigma on the planet
>people still can't wrap their heads around it
How dumb is /an/? This is like teen levels of retardation, and it seems like no one can understand population effect. It's like saying whites commit more crimes than blacks when whites make up 60% and blacks make up 16% of US population.
>>2401386
Blacks still commit more crime, even with the population gap lol.
I get what your saying though.
>>2399973
You just have to deal feeling sad, these fuckers actually have to die.
Convert your sadness into motivation to help. Animal shelters are usually pretty fun to volunteer at. More hours=less need for employees=money saved=more animals housed.
>>2399413
>most of them are mixed dogs
Is fucking Hitler managing those shelters?
>>2401524
Actually whites do commit more crime than blacks, but only when you add in 'hispanic whites' which includes a fuck ton of gang bangers. Which is now considered the new 'white' nowadays. But yeah I get the analogy.
NYC ACC, NY for 6/9.
Top to bottom, left to right; numbers 5, 7, 8, 9 and 11 are all rescue only. Everyone else is publically adoptable.
Why is the cat one so fucking small?
NYC ACC, NY for 6/9
The black cat, black & white, and all gray cat are rescue only. Everyone else is publicly adoptable
The problem with this thread is it's assumed that people on /an/ are actually old enough to adopt.
>>2402777
>9 pitbulls
Huge shocker.
>>2403491
Average is 25-28 years by my 6 years of observations. But adoption is a fucking invasive process with no bites because no one wants to have to label their model of fucking refrigerator to adopt a dog that they will tie up in their backyard and forget.
>>2403500
>have new pupper dumped on us
>take him out daily for walks
>hear and see the same backyard dogs bark their head off at us almost every other house
Why would someone do that to themselves?
>muh protection
Buy a fucking gun
>muh it's nature
Nothing finer in nature than the tiny plot of land the lone, wild wolf hunts in
I hope every time we walk early, the dog wakes up their shit owners. Given the body language, it looks like most just want attention. Some look aggressive, mostly dogs of peace and a German Shepard.
>>2403500
Were you drunk when you posted this?
>>2403629
Yes dude, why what did I do wrong?
I only had 120oz of 7% beer this morning. I didn't do anything wrong. Why do you know I'm a drunk?
>>2403634
Poorly structured sentence
Its a wonder why people who work at shelters dont commit sudoku from the sheer grief of all these poor animals plights.
>>2404861
Shelter worker here. It is very sad, but it's much, much easier to do with a dog that you barely know. Even if it's a puppy, if I only worked with it for a few hours it's easier than the adult dog with issues that I've worked with for months. When I first started I was pretty much trained to think that it wasn't 'me' killing the animals but 'them', whoever 'they' happened to be. Sometimes it's corporate, sometimes it's the previous owners, sometimes you just lay it on society as a whole because you don't know anything about the dog to blame it on something else. It's a lot easier when you can shift the guilt to someone else. At the end of the day, that is your job and if you didn't do it, it doesn't mean the dog gets to live. It just means someone else will do it for you.
Pic related, a dog that was euthanized for silly reasons that ultimately I blamed on corporate.
NYC ACC, NY
TBD 6/12
Very short list today.
They made up for their lack of dogs with an excess of cats. Also there is no reason for the entire picture to be this fucking small.
NYC ACC, NY

>>2405222
WHY ARE THEY GOING TO KILL KITTENS
>>2406552
No mother, happens very often. If they are brought in without a mom and they can't find anyone to foster the babies (which is hard work for newborns), they are generally euthanized before closing since they won't likely last a night without feeding and being kept warm. It's actually the more humane thing to do.
>>2399413
Pit bulls deserve to die, they are disgusting creatures
>>2405221
You're doing god's work anon, keep it up.
