Hey /an/ long time no see. Can we get a thread for Florida Wildlife please?
This is my first time down here and I caught my first brown anole. I'm keeping my eyes peeled for other reptiles but so far I've only been seeing these guys and maybe one gecko. Aside from reptiles, this morning I came across a stingray (not sure what species, I'll look it up later), some cormorants and laughing gulls.

can someone explain to me why I'm starting to see huge curly tailed lizards all over South Florida? When I was little I only saw those small brown anoles.

We have Iguanas all over Boca.
>>
>>2397070
they're smaller than iguanas and they're brown.

Like this? OP here, this isn't my pic but I found it by your description. Also here's something I found on them, if this is the lizard you're describing

Lucky! I was hoping to see some while on my trip here. I haven't seen any alligators yet either
>>
>>2397169
fish and wildlife tries to keep alligators out of heavily populated/tourist areas

Go down any backroad that has a canal alongside it and it wont take long
alternitavely places like gatorland exist or everglades tours
>>

Ah thanks anon I'll try that!
I've heard of Gatorland, I'd love to check that out but it looks like it's an hour drive to get there and I'm just here for a wedding.
>I know lame excuse
But thank you!
Also, speaking of gators, I can't help but notice the excessive amount of gator heads and back scratchers out here in the gift shops. Are they not protected here? Or are they bred for food and skin?
>>
>>2397204
They're prolific enough now that hunters are allowed to kill a few every year in order to control the populations. It's pretty common for them to make their way to neighborhoods and golf courses these days.
>>
>>2397167
yeah those motherfuckers. i hardly see any anoles anymore because of them.
>>
>>2397635
The gators are eating the anoles??? I would have thought they could outrun the gators. What other "nuisance" animals am I missing out on?

I remember there was this monitor lizard going around eating cats
