Hey /an/, I just found these things inside my umbrella. What the heck are they? They're little brown cocoons encased in what looks like dried mud. Some of them are hatched, but some look dead. Inside the dead ones are little white maggots. I can post more pictures if you need it.

Oh, these were found in Michigan, if it helps.
Something whaspy

Mud dauber wasp nest. Excellent pest control, they paralyze caterpillars and things like that and feed them to their larvae.

Thank you! These guys must've been here for quite some time.

Thankfully I don't have to worry about any spiders. Like I said, these things have probably been here for a good long time. There's nine capsules total, 3 have hatched and have nothing in them, one is hatched with some remains of a spider or something in it, three are still undisturbed, with a grub inside, and the other two have an open cocoon but a grub inside, One has a dead spider poking out. I'll post more pictures in a bit.
Looks like a calzone

Yeah mud daubers only parasitize spiders, they're actually quite odd for their family, as most sphecid wasps parasitize larval insects.
