There are many animals I either want as a pet (or less realistically, want to become) but I can't have for one reason or another. Pic related needs an expensive special tank, needs to be fed by hand several times a day, and has a lifespan of about a year.

I don't want my favorite animal to be in the pet trade you moron. I want my favorite species to be in its jungle home and eat insects and make more of itself. I don't want a situation like your picture related, where there are more in captivity in people's backyards in Texas than in the wild.

There are also lots of migratory animals that are just psychologically wired to be nomadic. You won't be doing a good job at mental stimulation if you keep them locked up.

I know you can get them and own then in some states and that people do keep them as pets. I dont feel that their tame enough and dont want to get randomly mauled to death on day because my pet got bored. Just wouldnt feel safe with one.
