I'm retarded and don't know what kind of cat this is. My mother said it's a "domestic short haired orange" but that seems kind of vague.
I took some other pictures

That's just how cats are. It's the equivalent of a mutt, which is totally fine. Cats' breeding aren't nearly as regulated as dogs'.

Is that really the name of the breed though? Domestic short haired orange? My mom isn't a vet or anything so I wasn't sure.

It's not a breed, per se, but the accurate descriptor for mixed-breed cats with those characteristics.

You're probably rolling your eyes right now at this but from what I'm understanding, your saying it's impossible to tell just from physical appearance what kind of cat it is? Like is it a tabby or a munchkin or is that impossible to determine?

Your mother is smarter and less autist than you. Calm down.
Her description is perfect, and and why do you care so much anyway?

This cat? Yes. It's a moggie. Think of it as like trying to determine what the average white American's ancestors' nationalities are. It's just so muddled, so long ago that you can't really tell. Tabby is a coat pattern, not a breed.
Your mother is correct in calling this cat a DSH.
cat "breeds" are actually just papered cat morphs. So yea
