Hi /an/,
I'm new here, have had numerous cats in the past but this is my first time caring for a snake. He's a corn, maybe 2.5 ft, and im not sure how old.
Here's my issue- I've had him for 2 weeks and he took his first meal down no problem. Around 2 days ago i fed him again (hoppers), and he threw up his meal after 1 day. On top of this, I noticed he has a scale peeling off his head (pic). Does anyone know the reason this is happening?
They may regurgitate food if theyre full or feel threatened when theyre eating. How far apart were the feedings? Is he shedding entirely or just the head?

The feedings were a little less than a week apart, maybe 5 days. He's only shedding one scale on his head from what I can tell.
I did let a friend handle him the day I fed him, and I have a feeling that the way in which my friend handled him may have stressed him out (very grabby, less guiding).
Also when I fed him he did not seem to want to strike at the hopper, he waiting til it was placed down and slowly approached it.

Wait for a full week or more between feedings.
Scale is probably stuck shed, it looks smeitransparent so i wouldn't be overly concerned.

Alright, thanks for help man

You're not suppose to handle the snake after the first 48 hours of feeding. They throw up if you do.

Also to help with a stuck shed, try to make his environment more damp (NOT too damp). misting the cage every day a little bit should help.

For a corn I would just go with a larger water bowl to up humidity slightly. Since OP is using aspen bedding the misting could lead to mold.

Alternately, OP, you can make a moist hide. Take a tupperware container approximately 4" square or so. Not too big, just enough so snek can curl up inside. Cut an entrance hole on the side. Put moist paper towel inside. Put it in the middle of the tank, not all the way on the warm side or cool side.
Change out paper towel once weekly to keep clean.

dont try handle snek too much and leave it alone when she is eating, they can feel unprotected and refuse to eat (because they cant fight back while eating)
