just leave water out, dont leave all the windows completely shut and you'll all be fine. A few ice cubes in the water bowl wont go amiss though

Whatever you would do to keep yourself cool will work for the cat.

Also, feed more wet than dry food. If your cat doesn't drink often (most cats are that way) this will help immensely.

Altitude and humidity? My cat got crystals when we moved to a dry place 2k meters above sea level because we we foolish with his water and food intake.

Cool, well then wet food, keeping it in conditions you could tolerate, and a surplus of fresh and cool water should be enough to keep the kitty healthy and happy.

Be sure to keep up on the brushing too. Even if it's a shorthair, cleaning out the undercoat will help.
