I got a nice new male veiled chameleon about 2 days ago. In the pet shop (which is very reputable) he was big, proud, and a pretty nice mint green. Now he looks frail and dying even though I have taken very good care of him. What do? I spent almost 300 dollars on that thing...

I've given him a heat lamp, uv lamp, expensive cage, crickets (he won't eat them for some reason), water, foliage, and privacy. All things considered, he should be doing fine.

It's only been two days, it needs time to chill
Your cham is stressed out from the move. It'll take a while. Leave it alone, do not attempt to handle it. Just keep up the tank maintanence and feeding and your cham will settle in eventually. It is completely normal for them to refuse food for several days up to a couple weeks after a move as well.
Is this your first reptile?

Also, are you using a screen cage (you should) and is the humidity in the cage the correct range?

I am using a proper screen cage made for chameleons. I'm not sure what exactly the air humidity is but I mist his cage with water periodically.

I've had a tortoise before but never a lizard. In hindsight, I probably should have gotten something easier like a leopard gecko or something.

I'm not surprised really. I just hope he feels better soon.

Okay you will need to buy a hygrometer to measure. They're pretty fussy about their humidity.

Thanks. I'll make sure to work on that.
