Is /an/ a vegetarian board?
>>
Hell no. Between the retards kidnapping baby birds because they want a "qt pet", the hunters, the people who willingly brag about running down stray cats/dogs/birds/whatever, the guy who keeps spamming his Betta in a vase, the morons who try to take wild raccoons or opossums as pets, the cat/dog owners who make threads showing their animal in serious condition and then bitch when told to le go to le vet, the guy who keeps spamming platypuses to "meme" people into buying a rare and fragile species, and the idiots who call for genocide of all spiders/wasps/houseflies/mosquitoes on a regular basis, I'd say pert near nobody on this board is vegetarian or vegan. Or cares about animals, beyond just having a qt pet.
>>
>>2360889
No
Just because we like animals doesn't meant we don't use them for meat
>>
>>2360889
No, we love every aspect of animals, including their taste.
>>
>>2360889
we are vegan

I'm a poorfag, and don't have the means to plan all my meals and kind of just eat whatever is there. But when I get my own place and am self-sufficient enough to afford this lifestyle I will only buy sustainably produced groceries. If I can't afford the free range meat, I don't eat meat that day.

No, fuck off.

Stupid child.

>the guy who keeps spamming platypuses to "meme" people into buying a rare and fragile species
Go easy on platyanon, it's all in fun. Platypuses are highly protected and not at all available to the public so its not like they are talking anybody in to it anyway. It's no different than if they were saying everybody should want a giant panda. A goofy sentiment, but unachievable regardless.
The platypus population is fine, let an anon have thier fun.

Vegetarians and vegans are the worst pet owners.
Majority of pets are pretty strict carnivores and you know how those faggots love forcing their malnutrition on unwilling subjects.

Vegans don't believe in pet ownership. You can't claim all usage of the non-human animal is bad and then have a pet. It's self-contradictory to the core. If vegans can own pets vegans can eat honey too. Keeping a cat is no different than keeping bees in your backyard.

Regardless, I don't get why these people don't just buy vegetarian pets. There's plenty of animals that will thrive on grain and vegetables, why force a carnivore to do so?
>>
>>2360990
Because herbivores are almost universally dumb as shit and unable to bond.
It's almost as if eating meat encourages brain development and things that dont eat it are disabled.
>>

Post something that disproves it.
With few exceptions the more carnivorous members of a family are the most intelligent.
Compare humans to gorillas or wolves to foxes.
>>
>>2361003
>prove me wrong

>compares omnivore vs omnivore and carnivore vs carnivore

this is how we know you don't know shit about biology
>>
>>2361004
Something being more carnivorous than another is pretty possible.
Humans eat a lot more meat than gorillas and wolves eat a lot more than foxes you braindead vegetarian
>>
>>2361006
>I have no arguments
>I also use specious comparisons
>Yet I expect my opinion to be taken seriously
>Insult

you can't even prove your own arguments right, why should I give you even one more (You), wolfaboo?
>>
>>2361010
Its almost as if things that hunt have some kind of selective pressure to be more intelligent than something that just sits around and eats grass all day.
>>
>>2360900
Is bugguy still a thing to? It's been forever since I've visited this board.
>>
>>2361013
it's almost like you have no arguments and are literally pulling speculative evolutionary biology out of your ass with no credentials to speak off. Also, do you seriously think herbivores stand around and let carnivores eat them? l m a o

By your logic the cat, mongoose, and weasel should be the most intelligent creatures on Earth. And yet, they're middling for mammals and even pigs outcompete them in smarts. Wolves are not obligate hypercarnivores. They have a fair percentage of plant matter in their diet. Sorry to burst your bubble, wolfaboo.

>We observed a relatively high occurrence of plant material, in particular grams, in the analysed scats both in summer and winter. The consumption of grams is supposed to be effective as a purgative and to wipe the intestine from parasites and hairs (MECH & BOITANI 2003). Both grams and berries were consumed more frequently in summer than in winter due to the higher availability of plants during the summer months. Although we assume that grams are partly consumed by chance in consequence of the feeding behaviour of wolves and the habit to lick blood from the ground, grams that appear in well-ordered bundles and with more than 5% of the dry volume of the scat need to be regarded as voluntarily consumed.

>In addition, plant matter is prevalent in wolves' summer diet, with 392 (74%) of 530 scats analyzed containing some type of plant material, largely grass (Graminae). This is consistent with summer observations of wolves consuming grass and other plant material.....The prevalence of vegetation found in summer scats indicates that consumption of these food types is intentional

here's your last (You) since your reply will inevitably be a tard fit about HOW YOUR BIG STRONG WOLF IS LE EPICEST CARNIVORE OF ALL TIME trying to argue with scientists and actual biologists.
>>
>>2360988
I don't eat meat but I acknowledge the fact that my carnivorous dogs shouldn't stop eating dead processed animals for any reason whatsoever. Believe it or not, there are those of us that don't force our lifestyle onto every living creature within our immediate vicinity.
>>
>>2360934
Your fish needs to swim side to side u dolt. I know it's tall and everything but still.

I'm not veg, but I could pass for one, i almost never get meat in my diet, nor dairy. I use old film though.
>>
>>2361013
Clearly there's examples that support this, like orca pods and dolphins, but then there's raptors that are about as dumb as you can get.
>>
>>2361016
I was pointing out that a wolf is smarter than a fox because of it being more predatory.
Same reason why humans are smarter than other apes.
Comparing different families is pointless, but comparing things in the same family is valid.
But you could make a bell curve and I guarantee the curve would favor intelligence for carnivores and a lack of it for herbivores.
>>
>>2361020
> I guarantee [evidence I don't have]

that's what I thought, wolfaboo

>>
>>2361024
> After three decades of research on the hunting behavior of chimpanzees at Gombe, we already know a great deal about their predatory patterns. We know that although chimpanzees have been recorded to eat more than 35 types of vertebrate animals (Uehara 1997), the most important vertebrate prey species in their diet is the red colobus monkey. At Gombe, red colobus account for more than 80% of the prey items eaten. But Gombe chimpanzees do not select the colobus they will kill randomly; infant and juvenile colobus are caught in greater proportion than their availability (Stanford et al. 1994a, 1998a); 75% of all colobus killed are immature. Chimpanzees are largely fruit eaters, and meat composes only about 3% of the time they spent eating overall, less than in nearly all human societies. Adult and adolescent males do most of the hunting, making about 90% of the kills recorded at Gombe over the past decade. Females also hunt, though more often they receive a share of meat from the male who either captured the meat or stole it from the captor. Although lone chimpanzees, both male and female, sometimes hunt by themselves, most hunts are social. In other species of hunting animals, cooperation among hunters may lead to greater success rates, thus promoting the evolution of cooperative behavior. Such cooperation has also been posited as important in our own evolution (Washburn and Lancaster 1968). In both Gombe and in the Tai forest in the Ivory Coast, there is a strong positive relationship between the number of hunters and the odds of a successful hunt (Boesch and Boesch 1989; Stanford et al. 1994b). At Tai, Christophe Boesch has documented highly cooperative hunting behavior by the chimpanzees there, and meat-sharing behavior after a kill that rewards those chimps who participated in the hunt.
>>
>>2361024
>still no arguments
>still no evidence
>still expects to be taken seriously

here's your last (You)
>>
>>2361025
And chimps are smarter than most apes, but are still less predatory than humans.

>I am butthurt because I can't even prove myself right

I'm never gonna stop eating meat but i want to get to a point where I'm raising/hunting all of the meat i consume. I already don't eat fish unless I caught the fish.

My state has a lot of invasive mammals that are edible. So I'll be hunting meat, avoiding supporting factory farms, and helping restore the ecosystem.

But Foxes are smarter than Wolves.
There's a reason they're considered the animal embodiment of cunning. They need to be smarter in order to find food from a range of different sources that other animals lack the ability to get to.

It has more to do with predator/prey than carnivore/herbivore. If herbivores had to hunt down and chase plants they'd be a shit ton smarter.
>>
>>2361345
Anon, he has three seperape levels that he explores. And bettas aren't strong swimmers, so it's not like a schoolimg fish that needs a lot of room to swim around quickly.

I hate using the wild argument, but even inthe wild they stay in densly packed areas where they swim between and around plants.

I mean I understand wanting to give a fish space, but you are ignoring a lot of facts about bettas themselves.
>>
>>2360988
Nah, I don't eat meat but these people are idiots and I want nothing to do with them. Reasonable people wouldn't do this.

I don't think I'm better than anyone nor do I preach to people about it, it's just a personal choice. I really miss my Grandmother's Irish stew of all things. And Marshmallows. And tuna sandwiches.
>>
I love animals. I truly adore them. I love everything of fur, fin, feather and scale.

I also love hamburgers.
>>
>>2360889
Nope. Im not a fan or supporter of the kind of abuse that happens to some livestock animals, but if Im eating meat that was raised properly then it is an exchange. That animal would not have existed at all if it were not destined to be on my plate, it was born so that when it died I could consume it. I have not taken away its life, we are the only reason it had one.

Even then, I feel it is a natural right of meat-eating animals like humans to kill and to eat meat. If you want to go even more bare bones and harsh - law of the jungle. My species wins, we have control of you, we can best you. We will eat you.

This is how it is in modern society, anything else is an exception that we agree to, often temporarily.
>>
Friendly reminder that the quantity of meat first world consumes is too much. The planet simply has not enough resources to sustain a society that eats meat in such quantities. I expected a bit more awareness from /an/
>>
>>2361954
Sorry for my bad english.
But things don't change. Limiting (I'm not saying mankind should not eat meat) the amount of animals we raise is mandatory. And the more time it passes the worse it gets.

>>
>>2361017
Yeah, same here. I'm not retarded just because i want to be healthy. The main difference is that humans can live up to 100 years, but pets like dogs only 10-20 years. They dont need a healthy vegan nutrition because their body wont survive anyways.
>>
>>2362245
Nah, more space for resources and homes would actually speed up our destruction of the planet

What would actually be helpful is if we took over the continent and Asia (leaving the japs alone). Poaching would nearly cease to be a problem, and with this new land we could afford to set aside a large portion of the Earth to be a permanent nature reserve forever. We would have to have a large preserved area for all the unique habitats. Having a culture where every person grew some veggies on their balcony/in their yards would also cut down on how much land we actually need to devote to farming. Don't forget that America throws out about half of its perfectly good food.

Some minor cultural shifts, more nature preserves, and the killing of the Chinese would do more for the planet that just killing all the nigs. They affect the environment the same way other animals do, assuming we don't shit money and other things at them for them to abuse.

>>
>>2362593
It's not just /k/, anons in general hate changing their habits and love tough guy bullshit, so veganism has practically zero pull here.
>>
>>2362598
No one identifies as a vegan because the most vocal group is a bunch of nutjobs
>>
>>2360889
Of course not, the very fact my stomach has a chemical made for breaking down protein means I am meant to eat flesh.
>>
>>2362537
But they don't do anything we aren't doing and are hurting us much more and much faster, all on their own.

>>2362584
I just don't think they're really doing anything bad. They're a unique Asian culture minus the evil of the others. Maybe if we nuked the rest of them it would have the same effect. However if the Japs are just as terrible for the environment, then my opinion will change.
>>
>>2362598
It's not about changing habits, it's about the fact that I don't feel bad for eating meat. I just can't muster up an ounce of sympathy or upset for the act of eating meat or consuming animal products, I inherently feel that it is within my right to do so.

>>2362618
I'm not truly religious, but if God didn't want us to eat meat he wouldn't have made it so fucking tasty.
>>
>>2362740
To add to this, I can understand why vegans may view meat-eaters are sociopathic, barbaric, or any other violent sort of thing. If you did inherently feel a deep empathy about consuming animal meat from your point of view I would seem incredibly callous and inhuman.

Go make a vegan-only society.
>>
>>2360889
No, dead animals are pretty fucking delicious
>>
>>2362537
chinks are a fucking plague on our enviroment and ecosystems
They overpollute with toxins, and are the reason heaps of species are going extinct from poaching and habitat destruction
chinks need to be completely genocided, and make China into one giant nature reserve devoid of humans

nigs are just niggers, if it wasn't for westerners giving them food, most niggers would die out with no foreign interference
>>

Japanese do not give two flying fucks about the environment and neither do any other asians, The only thing they do better than hating the environment is hating each other because fuck are they racist cunts toward other asians.
