What type of moss is this? Can I have it in an aquarium? What is the species? Im at a south texas beach and its near rock. The parts under water look grass like and are up to 5 inches long. It looks grass like.

looks like either seagrass or hair algae. Gonna need a closeup to tell.
both survive just fine in a saltwater tank.
And this one, it's different.
That's algae bloom, not moss. You can put it in a mason jar with a tiny bit of sediment (wear gloves you do not want this shit on your hands) and it'll last for a year or two before it succumbs to cyanobacteria. An actual aquarium would last longer but it will still succumb to cyano over time unless you aerate it. Wild algae by itself isn't sustainable over the long-term, you need plants to control nitrate levels and a clean up crew to control their population (the zooplankton from the ocean won't be enough). If they bloom in a controlled space, they kill themselves by choking out their own light and cyano feasts on their corpses.
You do not want a tank full of cyano. It's nasty shit, and nigh impossible to purge once it's started forming biofilms of sufficient density. It smells like ass and produces cyanotoxins which aren't safe to interact with and many an aquaria owner has gotten seriously ill when they've tried to clean their cyano filled tank with a cut on their hand or something.

>Wild algae by itself isn't sustainable over the long-term,
>you need plants to control nitrate levels
this is how we know you don't keep saltwater.
>>2358870
>seriously implying higher marine plants don't use nitrogen
Go back to your containment thread.
>>2358872
How many higher marine plants do you know of?
I can think of 2 that are kept in aquaria, and neither one is common.
>Go back to your containment thread
who let you out of the freshwater general?
did you enjoy your ban?
>>2358883
you buy a bag of sea salt mix and use it according to instructions printed on the bag.
>>2358887
>he only keeps two plants in his saltwater tank
LOL
>>2358883
You have the measure the salinity of the water sample you took the algae in and then use aquarium salts to enrich freshwater. If you use too much salt, it'll fuck over the sample and select for halophiles. If you use too little, it'll turn the water brackish.
>>2358895
Also note that water changes will likely kill or cull the algae. You only want to replace what is lost to evaporation.
>>2358898
>water changes will likely kill or cull the algae
also false.
marine algae use calcium from the water. You HAVE to change water or they'll die.
also most of them can't stand any readable nitrate or nitrite.
>>2358901
>/aq/fag seriously believes nobody keeps higher plants in saltwater
my sides, keep going
>>2358904
Those are coralline algae you monkey. This is filamentous algae that bloomed on the surface. They can't handle water changes. Enjoy trolling OP.
>>2358908
Nice lack of arguments as always /aq/fag. OP, remember who's giving you advice always.
>>2358912
timestamped pic of your saltwater tank?
That's what I thought.
>>2358915
If I were you I'd ditch the saltwater and buy beard trimmers.
>>2358912
I know you like to collect pics of me, so here's a free one.
>>2358920
(You)
didn't save lol
>>2358922
my point is that one of us actually keeps saltwater, and it isn't the faggot saying:
>plants are normally kept in marine tanks
>only coralline algae uses calcium
>algae don't need water changes
>your ocean's salinity is way different from other oceans
those would be a retard that has never kept saltwater.
>>2358926
>everyone who disagrees with me is the same person
>I have a blurry untimestamped photo so I know everything there is to know about the world's oceans
(You)
>>2358928
>>everyone who disagrees with me is the same person
I assume you're the only person here that collects pics of me.
you didn't answer. How was your ban?
>>2358930
>I posted images of myself to 4chan
>Only one person can ever save them
this is like inverse Streisand lol. also I've not been banned from /an/ in months-years. try harder
>>2358934
>I'm so hot
>everybody saves my pictures.
I've posted my face here for at least 6 years now, you're literally the only person to save them.
Ever.
>>2358941
>I posted images of myself to 4chan over six years
>Only one person can ever save them
it's like pottery
>>2358945
/aq/fag has a bizarre fixation with everyone poking fun at him being the same guy. It's like his tripfag sperg fests. I myself chalk it up to his obsessional nature.
>>2358948
what I've actually done is convinced you that everyone smarter than you is one person.
since most people are smarter than you that leaves you attacking everyone. Which gets you banned.
good times.
