I had one for 16 years. They are great because they like hunting shit, mine loved to chase birds, cockroaches and rats. She never killed cats but I'm sure they could if they wanted to.

They tend to have hearing problems, ours didn't show this until she was 10 or so. Still whenever a stranger parked outside the house she would keep barking until they went away even if this meant barking for several hours straight.

Other things to consider are that they love to run and are kind of rough so watch out if you have small children. The whole dalmatians love kids is a meme, mine fucking hated them.
