Pretty jealous anon. I wish I could see one. There's a refuge near here that has weasels but I've only seen a mink so far.
It's natures way of balancing out the fact that they're psychologically vicious murder machines.
>>2356707
This is true.
This is Freya, my weasel.
>>2356752
>>2356752
what's she like as a a pet? sociable ? can you train a weasel?
>>2357273
She is just over a year old. We thought she was a panda because when she was a baby she had black all down her spine, shoulders, and tail and a little 'V' shaped crest on her head (pic related). Now that she's filled in her adult coat, its clear she's a black eyed white.

Ferrets are great pets. They sleep for 18+ hours a day and play for about 4 hours. They're incredibly inquisitive and sociable, they like to be around people and will play with you. They're not very cuddly though, they have too much energy to just sit in your arms or relax. Sometimes I can get Freya to sleep in the hood of my jacket or draped across my shoulders. You can technically train a ferret, but they are very stubborn and more interested in doing their own thing. I could get Freya to roll over and stand on two legs consistently, but other tricks like fetch and come are beneath her notice. Ferrets are lots of fun.

Neat, my black eyed white came with panda markings and blue eyes as a baby. It's interesting how they change colour that first year.
>>2357347
My two boys changed a lot in their first year too. Cooper (the dark one) is still under a year and his undercoat is just coming in in a nice cream color, so I think he's a Sable Mask, but he might lighten up more to become more chocolate. Peter (the oldest) was very dark in his youth, he was classic sable but he's been lightening up every year so he's more cinnamon than sable now. Its amazing how each ferret is so distinct in both looks and personality.
How many weasels do you have?
>>2357352
I had two, both gone near a decade now.
It is surprising the differences. One came as a blue eyed panda, who's eyes turned black and stripes faded over a few years until white by age 4 or 5. He was a rambunctious little troublemaking berserker who'd get carried away with nipping some times. The other was a straight albino when a baby then slowly yellowed with age (his tail thinned too), he was a bit of a fatty and relaxed Buddhist type, never got nippy back to the other in spite of being near half again his size. Ahhh, good times, good times.
>>2357362
Aww my condolences. Its sad they live such short lives but they're such a joy. Have you considered getting more?
>>2357364
Several times, but I have bad lungs and am rather allergic (though not as much as cats!), those two took a fair toll on my health (enough I had to quit smoking!), so I always felt it best not to get more.
A girlfriend I was with got them while we were together and when we separated I somehow ended up with custody, heh.
I loved them to death and in spite of both getting adrenal cancer around 5 years old, with a lot of effort they managed to ages 8 and 10. So I can't complain, but can still miss them!
>>2357344
Mine always used to sleep on my lap once he was a couple of years old. Wherever I was in the house he'd run up to me, climb up my leg and curl up in my lap for hours. Lost count of the number of events I was late to because I didn't want to move him.
>>2357369
It's always the damn cancers. My little guy got fucking penile cancer. The vet tried an amputation but we must've been too late because it recurred a year or so later.
>>2357624
>It's always the damn cancers. My little guy got fucking penile cancer. The vet tried an amputation but we must've been too late because it recurred a year or so later.
Yeah, I've heard varying reasons why: American ferrets are too inbred and Marshall ferrets are born/raised in poor conditions being the two big ones.
Penile cancer though? Never heard of that. Poor bugger.
>>2357624
>My little guy got fucking penile cancer. The vet tried an amputation
It would have been more merciful to have him put down.
>>2357632
The way they back up and shake their head is so funny. Why do they do that?
