Homosassa Springs in Florida is a natural spring and is a popular spot for manatees. They also have a small zoo, an underwater observatory, and a boat ride taking you from the main parking lot to the entrance.

Most of their zoo animals are native to Florida except for Lu the hippo here, a leftover from a previous attraction at the park site.

NO, LU, NO! Bad hippo!
Wow, My sister-in-law works there. Really cool park from what I've seen, although I've only been there once though.
Neat
The park's bald eagle enclosure:
iirc, the eagle in the pic had a busted wing (all of the animals there are rehabilitated ones).
Here's another Floridian natural spring: Weeki Wachee Springs. It has mermaids in it.
Flardafag Here
Wakulla Springs an hour or two away from my place. Beautiful scenery, a lodge built for some millionaire back in the 30s, swimming area, boat tours, etc. Bottom of the spring littered with the bones of ancient animals, including mastodons, giant sloths, etc.
There's a manatee somewhere in pic related, but it's indistinguishable from all the blobs in the water.

Pics are OC
There used to be glass-bottom boats which allowed you to see the bottom of the springs and all the spooky skeletons and shit but the water's become cloudy over the last few years, probably from pollution and runoff from up north. Pity.
And don't leave the swimming area retard or the boat tour will find you in some gator's mouth like that guy back in '87.

Are their glass-bottom boats still running regardless, in spite of the murky water?
>>2355840
No, I think they only run like 2-3 times a year and it's pure chance that on a certain day they'll decide the water's clear enough to justify it.
Fuck pollution, huh
>>2355841
>That's some lake placid shit.
Your statement is not far from the truth. In Florida, you have to assume that every body of fresh water has gators in it.

Pretty much
I hear we've got some Nile Crocodiles down south now too. And American Crocodiles are fond of saltwater so there's that.
Personally I stick to pools.

>do not feed or molest
>molest
>>2356688
There is an actual video floating around of a man fucking an alligator so I guess it's a thing that happens.
>>2356688
Molesting actually means "to bother." It's just become popular these days to use the word in reference to sexual abuse.
>>2352029
That looks awesome
>>2356697
Recall for a moment anon that there's a news story that floated around a while ago about a man who tied down and raped a gator that attacked him. It's right to assume that sexual molestation is a factor. It's also right to assume that Floridaman is one scary motherfucker.
Silver Springs is like the granddaddy of Florida springs and also Florida attractions. Its main thing is glass-bottom boats and those have been around in one variation or another there since 1878. That makes it the oldest commercial attraction in the state. You can also rent kayaks there, but no swimming is allowed due to alligators, and no partitions for swimmers are set up anywhere.

>Personally I stick to pools.
I have some bad news for you...
>>2356635
>I hear we've got some Nile Crocodiles down south now too.
I thought that was an isolate incident
La Chua Trail is dope. The horses are way more dangerous than the gators though. The black male will legit run people down if they get close. Meanwhile, the gators just sit around, often right on the path.

The word "Homosassa" is a Seminole Indian word meaning "place where the wild peppers grow".
