Have you accidentally stepped on your pet? How did it react?
he died

I once stepped on my aunt's kitten tail. He shrieked. I turned around to look where he was, without lifting my foot until I realised he was below me. Sorry bud.

I accidentally stepped on her foot once.
She let out a really loud yelp, and gave me this pathetic look like she was in trouble. It was fucking brutal. While I was fawning over her and apologizing profusely (to a dog that in no way understands English mind you) she would hold her paw up and limp. I felt horrible watching her hobble around and it seemed to get worse the more I babied her. At one point she was even trembling as she held her paw up and looked at me with this sad, hang dog expression.
I wanted to see how bad it was hurt because at this point I was starting to think I may have broke it by the way she was favoring it. I let her outside to see if she could attempt to walk on it, and stayed inside by the window to watch her.
She limped outside and turned to look for me. When she seen I wasn't around the bitch took off running after some birds, completely fine.
That wasn't the last time my dog has played me like that, and it's something I always think about when people say dogs don't understand complex emotions.

when you baby the dog you are telling her that she needs to be sad/upset/scared and that what happened was a big deal. If you act normal they will realize there is nothing to be worried about

No but they've stepped on me.

I'm sure you're right. First reaction for any decent pet owner after you smash it's foot is not to pretend it didn't happen, you are going to check for damage and comfort the dog.
I went a little overboard with this which caused the situation I was in. Had I approached it more like you suggested it would have been completely different.

>day 1: numbness
>day 2: crispy joints
he yelped and I kek'd then babied him
>>2350481
>aunt had a pet chick as a kid
>stepped on it
>turned into little bird mush
I'd say it didn't react so well
I've accidentally kicked my Pom while walking and she thought it was a game. I've closed my rat's cage door on his tail once, lightly, and he screamed - broke my heart
My dog loves getting underfoot so I step on his toes semi frequently. He yelps. I stop, pet him for a few seconds, and then all is well and he's getting underfoot all happy again.

Accidentally stepped on my Clydesdale. He was crushed instantly.
Stepped on dog a few times
He always gets up and starts licking me like crazy, as if he's trying to appease me because I punished him. Makes me feel very guilty

I've accidently stepped on my cat several times.
I think she might be afraid of my shoes, now.

I don't get it. What does having a lisp have to do with anything
One of my cats constantly gets under foot. He hasn't learned yet. He is also old and has some trouble getting around...
>playing with cat and chair
>she gets her leg stuck and hurts herself pretty bad
>try to comfort her
>step on her 4 minutes later
>she runs away

Fun story from some falconry forum.
>dude out hunting with his Harris
>moving shit around looking for rabbits
>picks up a bigass concrete slab to look since rabbits are there sometimes
>nothing, drops the slab
>a mouse scurries around
>the hawk goes after the mouse
>slab falls
I had a bird die once. It was really awful. I'd be unimaginably fucked up if this happened to me.
But tbqhfam mostly it's my bird stepping on me.
I stepped on my dogs tail and he bit me so I kicked him in the ribs

just lightly, I am careful with the small pets
but I always trip on the big doggos

I accidentally stepped on my cat's paw when I was chasing her around the house in the dark while I was wearing my nightvision goggles. She meowed briefly & I felt like a shit. She got treats & must've forgiven me as she snuggled & purred later on my lap.
I've frequently stepped on my dogs feet. He hasn't learned not get underfoot after over 3 years
