I miss when all of them I saw were deep red with lots of points. Now they are all over the place from yellow, to black to having few or even no dots.

Dude what the fuck happened to ladybugs? When I was a kid, I saw them all the time outside, and like you said they were a deep red.
Now I never see them, and when I do, they're yellow.
Same with butterflies, where are all the butterflies at? I don't see those anymore either

You didn't see them all the time. You would only see them in massive numbers every 4 or 5 years

Subspecies from other regions mixed with them. I still see them a ton in some years as the other anon said. I hope this year I don't have to keep my windows shut again for 2 months because the fuckers keep fucking.

They're a problem for me.
I think they're not ladybugs but the Asian beetle, an invasive species. I live in Texas.
They get in my lights and windows and crawl on my walls, excrete foul-smelling yellow stuff, and then drop dead with me gradually having to clean up the hundreds (yes, hundreds) of husks.
I was told some of them bite. But I've played with tons of them and never got bit.

if they have reddish brown legs then yeah they're the asian beetle.
