Hello /an/ons!
Do you think you could help me identify this insect? Found this outside my house. I live in Southeast Europe, specifically in a suburban area in Croatia.
I mean, it sort of looks like a bee at first sight, but it doesn't have a stinger or that typical bee-like body. Honestly, it looks more like a fluffy fly, it even has the same head shape. The part that confuses me the most is the long mouth. I asked some people around and they told me this is a gadfly, but I can't find a picture of a long-mouthed gadfly anywhere on the internet. Also, it's the size of a regular bee, I guess. So, what is this?

So it's just a fly, but also a bee. Bee fly. Or rather, a fly that looks like a bee. Ok, thanks!
