infected due to poor care of the wound, or it could be rat-bite fever (which can be carried by mice.) if you start to feel sick with chills, nausea/vomiting, body aches etc flu symptoms in anyway go to the doctor right away. but i would get that checked out just in case.

However, if OP would have put some benadryl on it the moment he noticed an allergic reaction (hives) and the problem stopped, then a trip to the Dr would be be an inconvenience, and unnecessary waste of time and money.

I have been a fan of mice for about 10 years now and I've owned them for that long up until recently where I got an allergy.
You can live with it. Like I do, but I'm extremely careful when I handle them because I get that kind of shit too. I get a smaller version of that if i handle them too much. It's an allergy and it could suck.
I got bit once by a rat accidentally and that shit sent me to the hospital. Has something to do with saliva most probably but you can also get that from their urine (their little nails that get in contact with urine can poke you lightly and cause it)

I wouldn't be worried but what worries me is that you need to have female mice with another. They can't be alone. Males arguably can be alone depending on temperament but sometimes even males need companions.
They are social animals. Get 1 or 2 more females.

Also of course it'll bite you if you try to handle it the day you got it. It's stressed from the ride. Wait a week. And feed it treats with a clicking sound so it gets used to you.
