Try to get a picture of one that isn't a juvenile, as they are hard to distinguish with species.

Well it's probably a gull, but won't be able to tell too much from shape alone.

Wing shapes reflect uses.
A long and narrow shape (A) is found among ocean gliders. (B) This wing provides power for quick escapes. (C) A broad and slotted wing is for land soarers. Note wing tips (D) is for long migrations and high speed flight. Our Herring Gull wing (top) is definitely that of an ocean soarer.

When you put it on a tiny, highly populated island, it will be found pretty quickly. At least in America theres huge tracks of land that had to be combed over for it. For this one it seemed like anon just took a peek outside his window and saw it.

Yes, they figured that out shortly after this thread was posted. A couple of guys in the UK showed up on camera, tried to take it down but it was zip-tied on and no scissors on hand. Police chased them off. The flag was then taken down because police didn't like how much attention it drew, didn't want to deal with more trespassers. And so ended season 4 of Shia's international capture the flag adventure.
