Considering getting a pair of pigeons or doves.

I have 2 cats but I'll buy a big strong cage and keep them seperate/put the cats in a room when they're out/etc

Is it a bad idea to have birds and cats in the same house?

I think it is a bad idea but as long as you are sensible and keep them apart at all times it really shouldn't be a big deal.

Yes it's a bad idea. Except in extraordinary circumstances the birds will be extremely stressed out by the presence of predators, regardless of the cage. I wouldn't recommend it.
